I'm sure if we had gone any other night, the dinner would have been 'fine'. In fact, the chicken teriyaki don we ordered was quite good. However, the rolls we ordered were a bit of a let down. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned properly making the rolls taste quite bland. To sum it up, we ordered a miso soup, a chicken teri don, Philadelphia roll, dynamite roll, cali roll, negitoro roll, and a chopped scallop roll. It was New Years day and it was quite busy. We waited a VERY long time for our food. The miso came within minutes of ordering it. I usually like to enjoy my soup with my meal, but luckily I did not wait. The teri don came about 20 mins later. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Another 25 mins later, we still haven't received any of the rolls we ordered. We noticed that other patrons who were seated after us were already eating their sushi. So we asked our waitress how much longer for ours. Her response was, "it's coming, it's at the bar". Another 10 mins pass, still no sushi. We approached the manager and asked him about our order and his response was "we have printer problems, but I'll make sure the sushi chef will start your order next." START our order??? At this point, we had already been waiting over an hour and didn't understand how it seemed only we were affected by the printer problems. Though I have to give the manager some credit. He was very apologetic and personally delivered our first tray of sushi. We specifically asked our waitress for no avocado in the dynamite and Philadelphia rolls. Sure enough, the dynamite came with. We asked her to make sure the other roll did not. She came back a min later and said the sushi chef had to remake the other roll, but didn't offer to remake the dynamite roll. We also asked for extra ginger (had to ask twice) and water with no ice (came with ice). I can see that perhaps we had more special requests than the average person, but clearly, they do not listen to their customers. I also have to mention that we used a social shopper coupon. When we got our bill, I was hoping that they would try to rectify their mistakes by offering even the slightest extra discount. No other discount was offered. Sure, we did not pay full price for the meal, but I'm sure any other coupon user experiencing the same ordeal would be just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family ordered food yesterday evening via Uber. Everything was delicious! However, I am deeply disappointed with the oyster motoyaki. $8 for 3 tiny cut up chunks of oyster in a egg tart sized tin. I have ordered this for years in different restaurants never have I ever received such sad quantity of oyster motoyaki (with the exception of all you eat portions). I'm so BAFFLED AS HOW CAN THIS BE ACCEPTABLE TO CHARGE $8 FOR ALMOST NO FOOD to be completely honest. I went to the restaurant in person today to speak to the staff. They wouldn't do anything except say that each chef prepares whatever portion they like and they have no control. And that is how they serve the food and how they charge the food. Not sure how they can accept that type of service. I am actually furious!!! Fuming!!
Also forgot to add - how dismissal the staff was who kept telling me they have no control on how the chef prepares the dish and told me just not to order it next time. I wasn't there to blame anyone (seems like that's what they were concern about). I wanted to let the staff know that to charge that amount for this little oyster is outrageous!!!! Yes inflation is terrible and food cost has risen, but this was the most expensive item in the whole order. It just doesn't make any sense that they would be proud to serve this.
UPDATE: I have listened to their suggestion to not order oyster motoyaki at their restaurant. I've haven't been back and don't plan to. I've been enjoying oyster motoyaki at other Japanese restaurants...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to pick my order up, specifically Tray E. $57 As I came home and started counting instead of 72 pieces I got only 68 of tiny sushi, the difference from the picture on the website was huge, the rolls were small and the fish on the nigiri wasnāt quiet fresh. When i called them to ask why there was a shortage on the amount, the lady said that until every roll was present on the tray everything was fine. After she told me to bring it back and to solve the problem she would cut the sushi even smaller. Then i realized that this place is not going to admit their mistake, later i talked to the manager who kept saying ā Actually if everything is there, everything is good, no need to worry!ā. Overall my experience in Kiku Sushi was awful and sad. So if you guys ever go there and order something, count the amount first and compare it to the amount it SHOULD actually have. What happens if they keep taking away 4 pieces from every roll, it costs money and please donāt think that i am writing this all because i am stingy! Also, if Eric a manager of Kiku sushi ever reads this- if you really think that it is customerās fault that he/she didnāt know that you guys will be changing your amount of sushi on the website, let me tell you that, the reason of customersā complaints is your guys ability to not follow the rules and borders of your...
