I ordered vegetable fried rice and Shanghai noodles for shredded pork. I was told it will be 15 minutes which it was ready by then. They did say they do charge for bags so I had to bring my own. Once I arrived, I’ve noticed that my rice which cost $16 not including tax was in a tiny little container big enough for one person. My noodles on the other hand or in medium to large size can trainer big enough for two people and not cost $18. The rice tasted dry bars OK so I’ll give that two stars. But the portion of it was so small it did not feed the family of five. It wouldn’t even feed two people unless two of them are kids. The noodles tasted so disgusting. All I tasted was grease. A very old grease that was not changed all day long. They were flavorless and the strong burnt old grease tasted so powerfully that you couldn’t taste anything else the cabbage in the noodles was practically raw and only a few strands and the shredded pork. I had one piece in a whole bowl of noodles. They were disgusting. I wouldn’t want that stuff for free. I ended up paying $40 for something that I thought would be a side dish big enough to feed 273 kids, but we ended up going to a different place in ordering more food because that side dish was not enough to feed us all. If I were you, I wouldn’t be ordering food there for takeout and definitely not for dinner because they don’t change their grease. If you want to try eating indoors and for lunch, maybe that will be a different story but if you don’t want to be disappointed and be hungry, do not order...
Read moreI have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years, I started with the Broadway one then the Grandview and also its Surrey location. But this location by MetroTown had the best service and our go to location. I drive out of my way just to come here for lunches and dinners.
The other locations I don't care for their service I want to be treated well when I goto a sit down.
Out goto dishes are: LUNCH Chicken Corn Soup with
Dai Ching Chicken (with bone, a must added flavor then boneless) I also request with extra sauce so when the meat is gone I just mix the rest with rice and its a whole other meal Ginger Beef not take out worthy has to be eaten fresh to keep the crispiness otherwise its becomes mushy Fried Green Beans Deluxe Mixed Vegetables Chow Mien ask for crispy noodles, amazing
For DINNER 'Always' Dai Ching Chicken Ginger Beef Chicken Chow Mien (Crispy noodle of course)
But if you have more than 4 people also add: Bowl of Chicken Corn Soup and Moo Shu choice of meat.
I savor their food yes depending on the Chef it can vary from each time I go and yes sometimes it is way off but in generally 90% of the time its WELL WORTH IT!!!
All time favorite Chinese food anywhere. I have tried so many some came close but my tongue(watering now even thinking about them) always guides me back to this place.
Next time I go I will take pictures and...
Read moreThis restaurant has been around for years..
It is not a big restaurant with 5 booths, 1 large table and a banquet against the window with various 2 tops and 4 tops. Parking in front.
They have an extensive lunch menu.
The staff is efficient and friendly, for a Wednesday afternoon, the restaurant is 90% full with mix of clientele. Not all asians as I assumed.
I ordered the Seafood Crispy Noodles including the Hot and Sour Soup.
The food comes out fast, the soup is flavourful with the numbing spicy effect but the consistency is more like gravy, which is too thick to my liking.
The Seafood Crunchy noodles indeed was very crunchy with 2 prawns, 2 pieces of small fried fish, 2 super chewy squid and a handful of eraser sized scallops and Bok Choy. The sauce over the noodles has the flavour but the seafood is bland, however again, the sauce, I suspect is made with an abundance of corn starch, so it’s super thick. At the end of the meal, you can literally see the sauce congealing into solid jelly.
I do like the attentiveness of the staff, there were 3 servers always walking around, clearing and cleaning tables.
They have their own napkins printed, and at the end of the meal, you get a fortune cookie, which reminds me of the old visit to their Broadway location when we used to eat there in the 80s. Most Chinese restaurants don’t offer fortune...
