Lavender-earl grey beer is pretty good and I like their selection of canned cocktails. Service should be better. We ordered two regular chicken burgers yesterday for takeout (both of us were asked if we wanted spicy and said no). we received a spicy chicken burger and a hamburger. When I asked for a replacement, they gave me a spicy chicken burger. I didn’t realize they were both spicy until we bit into it and it was disgusting. Not just was it spicy, but it looked and tasted like a frozen chicken nugget reheated and tossed in salty spice seasoning. Like it was literally 3 chicken nuggets in a bun and the texture of the chicken was clearly previously frozen. The hamburger was great, good portion of beef, perfect amount of sauce and toppings, an absolute delight. The regular chicken burger was also good another time we’d ordered it, so I’m very disappointed to have spent so much on something that tasted like old bar food picked off of the floor, especially when it’s not what we even ordered. Server should’ve at least made sure before giving us our takeout container that it was right. Instead they said “hope you’re hungry” snarkily and left the food at our table so quickly I didn’t even have a chance to respond. I could not come back here or recommend this...
Read moreUnimpressed with the service. It’s our first time visiting this location and we had high hopes as Steamworks is a highly reputable brewery in Vancouver. I frequently purchase their beers outside of their taprooms as well.
Upon arrival, my girlfriend and I ordered our first round of beers and sat down. We were sat in a corner table by the fridge and it wasn’t that comfortable. We requested to move to the patio, but they explained “once you’ve sat down it’s policy that you have to stay there”. Mind you we’ve only been here for 5 minutes.
After ordering some tacos from the food truck, my girlfriend noticed a fly in her beer. She had already drank a quarter of it before noticing it. It might’ve been there since we received the beer or it might’ve flew in after. Regardless, we went to the bar and asked if we could have our beer replaced. To our surprised, the bar server made us pay for another beer. When I asked why we have to pay, she explained that “it’s not my fault the fly flew into the beer. If it was there when we served it, sure. But if it flew in after, it’s on you”.
Terribly disappointed. Will not be returning here again nor buying their beers again. When you won’t even treat your clients well on the most basic level, I don’t see a reason why I...
Read moreWe requested and paid for a cold 30L keg for an engagement party a week before the event; the sign in the window says cold beer sold here. These basic expectations were not met; they handed us a warm keg stating”kegs don’t fit in our fridge”. We have been patrons of Steamworks for more than a decade so it was quite disappointing to experience such a brutal fail at a critical moment when we paid you ahead of time to do your job. We ended up purchasing $160 worth of beer (the keg was $130) as we were painted into a corner by the business. It would have been good customer service to own up to the oversight and attempt to mitigate the customers inconvenience (instead of putting your problems on the customer) due to the poor planning and execution on Steamworks part. Additionally, my brother and I are members of hockey teams; as we are so disappointed in how this experience ended, we will no longer be promoting or bringing business to Steamworks. I guess this is what happens when you have part time students running a...
