Avoid!!!

Came to the restaurant to check it out. Haven't been here in a while and I wanted to stop for dinner. The sound of the microwave beeping should have been a hint that thing have changed. A microwave in a sushi place is never a good sign. This means something is being reheated instead of made fresh.

Still, I gave it a shot...

I ordered the California Crunch Roll and the Spicy Sushi Combo to go.

Once I opened the Cruch Roll, I was shocked! I attached the picture. The California Rolls are covered in potato chips. Yes, POTATO CHIPS! What is this?! Stoners food?! Dorm food? Now I don't mind restaurants being creative but not when you charge me $7 for a roll, especially when there's a sushi place at Lougheed, a station away, that sells 24 pieces of California for $8.

The Spicy Sushi Combo was not better. The fish and meat are not fresh and they're soaked in hot sauce, now I am a spicy food addict but this got my mouth numb. The food was tasteless and extremely spicy.

The last was the Miso...

I have passed by this restaurant many times and decided to try it out. I ordered the meal where you get miso soup, chicken don with two rolls for a very great price! It was made quite quick for the quality of the food and he had 3 other orders to do too. I really enjoyed the mini chicken don, the soup lacked some taste, and the sushi was moderate. The place lacks the aesthetic that other restaurants have, but the customer service was great! The guy wasn't the greatest at English, but he was still very welcoming and very kind.

I took off one star only because this restaurant is your basic and convenient place to order sushi. Prices are relatively worth for the quality, customer service was nice, and the place seemed organized. It's not a bad restaurant, just not as nice as other ones I've been too. You get what you pay for essentially when you come here so don't expect anything spectacular. Otherwise, I would still come by for...

I only eat here because its close to my office. I've given them two chances now, and I will limit my visit here. The Toro Nigri is NOT fresh, and completely shocked the amount of soya sauce offered in my take out for the number of sushi I ordered. You cant be that cheap to give me only 1 solo cup half filled of soya sauce for a $30.00 sushi order for Nigri and Maki.

Second take out order. Chicken Don. The teriyaki sauce had a sour taste like its been boiling on the food warmer for hours (I would be surprised if they had a Hot Holding temp log). The portion size is something my kids would eat.

Really wish there was a Togo Sushi...

Conveniently located next to Production Way-University SkyTrain station and a business/industrial zoning area, I'm surprised this place has never been busy upon a number of my visits. This makes the ordering & receiving of the food fast. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is always clean. I normally stick with the Mango Dragon Roll & Salmon Sashimi or Spicy Salmon Sashimi. Every time it has been great so I'm surprised by the negative reviews on the food. Perhaps some menu choices are better than the others 🤷🏾‍♂️.

The only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating is in comparison to high end sushi restaurants etc which isn’t even really the same or fair but, the food is freshly prepared by a lovely sushi chef who is very attentive, all food I’ve tried the 3-4 times I’ve eaten here or ordered have been great. And the prices are incredibly affordable so all in all good experience. Definitely try it. ( mind you I’m not too adventurous with my orders but the basics have been good and portions are more than fair sizes )
