I recently visited this place for breakfast, mainly because I saw that they had lentil soup on the menu — that alone was enough to draw me in. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, is very clean, and feels quite upscale. Plus, there’s no issue with parking, which is always a big plus. I ordered the lentil soup, a slice of toast, and an Earl Grey tea. While the soup was flavorful and enjoyable overall, there are a few things I believe could be improved. First, serving soup on a plate instead of in a bowl felt odd and impractical. It caused the soup to cool down very quickly, and I ended up drinking it cold. A proper bowl would make a big difference in the experience. Secondly, the “toast” I ordered was just a plain slice of bread — nothing special — yet it came with an extra charge of $2, which I found quite steep for what was served. Lastly, the Earl Grey tea was made using Twinings tea bag, which in my opinion is one of the weakest options on the market in terms of flavor. I hope they consider switching to a better brand. Aside from these points, everything else was wonderful. The staff were friendly, the environment was relaxing, and I can definitely see the potential here if a few small adjustments are made.

I've been hearing great things about Oneway Café, and I finally had a chance to try it out. Based on the positive reviews online, I had high expectations, and they were mostly met! This little café is located in what looks like an office block. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a bohemian vibe that's perfect for a relaxed breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It’s nicely decorated, and the menu offers a handful of delicious options, from classic breakfast dishes to creative lunch plates. I ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg, and it was okay. Maybe I have different taste buds. I’ll need to give it another try. The presentation was very nice, though. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. There was plenty of parking around, at least on the weekend when we visited. It might be different on weekdays when the offices are open. Overall, we had a good experience at Oneway Café and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and cozy brunch or lunch spot in Burnaby.

I came here when they had just opened and thought the food was pretty good, so I decided to come back. But today was a huge disappointment. I don’t know if the ownership changed, but the prices are outrageous — a sandwich for $20 in a small café in an industrial area? I figured if it tasted great, maybe it would be worth it. But the sandwich was packed only in the center to look full, and once you ate a few bites, it was basically just bread. The bread itself was stale, with edges so hard they were almost impossible to chew. On top of that, it was wrapped in paper taped with office tape — yes, actual tape on food. Every bite carried a faint tape smell, and the paper was so heavily taped it was hard to even remove. I added soup for $4 more, and it came out in a tiny espresso-sized cup. Altogether it cost me $24, and honestly, I left feeling completely ripped off. Definitely not the experience I expected.

Ordered on Uber eats. The Ham Eggs Benny was fantastic, honestly felt like a great deal for what I was getting with the salad and soup. That being said, while the Benny itself was really good as well as the salad. I chose the tomato soup as my side but got mushroom, which honestly is not a big deal because I like both but it just wasn’t very good, I would equate it to canned soup. I also got a latte, which honestly tasted like instant coffee mix with milk and I didn’t end up finishing it.

For the price though, I can’t really complain and that’s why it still gets 4 starts. The Benny was about $12 and for that price with how tasty it was it could have not come with a soup at all. My only real complaint is the coffee, I mean seriously they really need to work on their barista skills if they are going to offer lattes.

**Update after owner response: I did infact choose mushroom accidentally so that’s my bad. Otherwise the review is unchanged and I appreciate their response and resolution....
