I had this restaurant mark down on my google map already. I finally have time to come here. The store doesn’t have its name on the outside, so I had to double check on the google map before I entered.
I came here by myself. Its a very local cafe with very antique furniture. There are about 15 seats inside. When I went in for lunch it was 12:45pm, people keep coming during my whole visit there.
The owner warmly greeted to all the customers. Mostly of the customers seems to know the owner and they are chatting like friends. Some customers even leaves their own mugs/glasses on the top of the shelf and they help themselves with coffee when they walk in.
I told the owner that it’s my first time here, he told me the special for today is butter chicken and it’s very delicious. I said sure, I’ll have that and one cup of coffee.
There were a lot of conversations between table to table and seems like everyone know each other. The owner joked a lot and even though he’s busy serving the customer, no one feel left out in the cafe.
The food was good!! One plate of butter chicken on rice, one cup of coffee (the owner even filled it up again) and I received one piece of cookie for $7.5!!!!! The price is truly amazing!!! I don’t know how the owner make money 😅 (I decided to pay cash so the owner won’t be charged for the transaction fee. ) and give TIPS!!!!
I am telling all of my friends to come and enjoy the dinning experience. I would definitely come back!!!
Thank you Yaser for the...
Read moreMy first time here after exploring the neighborhood, I stumbled upon this hole in the wall hidden gem. This small diner is single-handedly run by a gentleman (by the name of Yasser?) He greets his customers, both new and regulars, like family, which gave me an immediate sense of hospitality and warmth. The establishment is set up almost like a community kitchen, where patrons take it upon themselves to keep the place tidy by placing the dishes on the portable dishwasher, as well as "self-checkout" to pay what they owe. Yasser has very fair prices for exceptionally good food, combined with impeccable service, which is evident in his returning regulars. I felt happy to be a part of this community, even if only for a little while, because I don't live nearby. A dish of seashell pasta with meat sauce, cream of vegetable soup, and mango juice cost me just shy of $10 -- the definine highlight being the creamy soup! I can see why Yasser is able to delight his customers, which built such an extensive roster of happy regulars. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in the area. Society needs more good people like Yasser to brighten up everyone's day!...
Read moreThe whole experience is very genuine and warm. It is very much a real gem in Vancouver. I had the lentil vegetable with rice soup and roast beef sandwich. The soup itself is a massive portion that tastes really amazing. Just the soup alone makes for a whole meal with how generous Yaser is with the portion. He even offered more soup after I was finished which is very warm of him. As for the roast beef sandwich, it was a little dry. I can't say anything else that's slightly negative as the sheer quantity of meat protein alone makes it great for me. The food itself is very simple and straight to the point. I see that as a good thing as I can easily identify what I am eating straight away. The taste and atmosphere really does resemble the experience of eating over at a friend's house as others have pointed out. Overall, it is an experience that can not easily be replicated and thus makes it stand out above the rest. Hat's off to Yaser in really caring for the people. If I lived in the neighborhood this would definitely be a place I would...
