Banzai What can I say, that hasn't been said a thousand times... They used to be located on Southland and McLeod but shut down so we thought. But one lucky day during the Covid epidemic I was traveling in the North West and behold BANZAI. Not believing it was the same establishment I told my wife about seeing a restaurant called Banzai she said was it our favorite place for Sesame Beef. I said I'm not sure. I just logged the location into my mind. Then about 5 weeks ago my wife and I were in the NW and we were talking about where we could go for lunch. My thoughts immediately went to Banzai. So without telling my wife where is was going we landed at the front of this restaurant. I said would this be OK she said sure with a little hesitation. Off we went inside with our masks on and disinfectant in hand, looked at the line up and menu. There is about 5 tables available some 2 seaters and some 4 seater. Mostly full we looked at the menu and saw our favorite Sesame Beef bowls and a great many other choices. We ordered 2 of our favorite dished with extra beef and sauce with some wasabi on the side(this I love) waited about 5 min. and off to the car in the parking lot to eat. Wow it was the same establishment we had eaten at priviously and was it great. After we finished our orders I looked at my wife and said do you want to take a couple more orders home for dinner or a late night snack she said sure. I walked in again and when it was my turn to order the server looked at me and said, "MORE" I said yes. Same order again and it was great to have this to snack on at home later. Don't forget your stamp card after five bowls you get poke sticks great to snack on after the bowls and after 10 bowls you get a free bowl. This is a place you want to try if you never have. It's well worth the drive we have now eaten there about 3 times in the last month. Staff is very accommodating and food is...

For the price you pay, what you get is an incredible deal. Rice was cooked well, meat was good portioned and had a good amount of sauce and sushi tasted fresh as it can be in Alberta. Very happy the quality has returned to what I was used to in the past. Will definitely be going back again.
Usually this place is very reliable for their food even when ordering for delivery. Today when we ordered, the food was borderline inedible garbage. Food arrived completely cold, not even warm, even though the driver was quick from the restaurant. The food looked and tasted like it had just been sitting on the counter for ages. Beef had almost no sauce on it, the chicken was mushy in texture and the rice was overcooked mush. We ordered 2 mega bowls, one with extra veg. Instead we got one with no veg and they completely forgot both orders of tempura....absolutely unreal how they could mess up both orders so staggeringly bad... unbelievably disappointing for what they usually serve. Debating whether i will ever order...
Read moreThis was our first time ordering from here.. As I never like writing a disappointing review, here is how our experience went - I'm giving this a generous 1 star.
We did not receive any soy, wasabi or ginger for our sushi. The Takoyaki were soggy and smoky. Gunked with a lot of sea weed strands on top - I'm not sure ot sure if they were supposed to be crispy or wet but either way terrible texture. Very little octopus and mostly filler. The shrimp tempura was very dry and over crispy. WAY Too much batter, disgusting a tiny little strand of sliced shrimp hidden under there. Dynamite rolls were smothered in some sort of pink mayonnaise which was overwhelming and took away all the flavour and essence from the roll. The rolls were also luke warm. Pork spring rolls are very hard to mess up when they are frozen, 2" long and all you have to do is throw them in the deep fryer.
Again, the food was not fresh, it's frozen. very easy to tell if food is frozen, microwaved or fresh. Our meal was not fresh.
Who serves sushi without wasabi, soy or ginger? I guess there is a first time for everything still.
Very horrific experience on a Friday evening with...
