Saturday October 14/23, First time ever to the Sushi BBQ INN, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever been through. On the recommendation of my sister, who enjoyed the place in the past, I agreed to go with her and two of my nephews for dinnner in celebrating my 50th birthday. We arrived at around 3:30 pm and had the choice of either the lunch or dinner all U can eat, we sadly chose wrong . It started off ok as we ordered from the all U can eat dinner menu, we got our first order done in moments upon arrival. After making our second selection we placed it at the end of the table as required, 25 minutes in waiting with the owner/manager taking takeout orders and a server passing us by severely times we finally got one of theirs attention, third, forth and fifth orders same thing. Our first orders I have to say were great, but after that sadly no, the sushi not including the rolls were falling apart, all the chicken or beef cuts were way over cooked the other orders of sushi were bland. Was never asked for refills on water once, When we got the people’s attention my youngest nephew was able to get the cokes he asked for but never got his glasses taken away. Our table became cluttered with many glassware, bottles, saki ware and plates as non were ever taken away at any time. When we finally were able to to order our desserts my sister and nephews got there green tea ice cream in decent time, while I waited for my tempura fried ice cream, thinking it was never going to come we were preparing to leave 20 minutes after it was ordered it finally arrived with the little donuts one of my nephews ordered. The moment I cracked open the fried ice cream it was completely melted, it instantly had the texture of soggy cereal in warm milk or a tempura batter milk soup. My sister asked to speak with the manager, while she was trying to explain our experience to the lady, the lady kept cutting her off with fake apologies, you could tell she was trying to get away to deal with the takeout orders and not really caring about our ordeal etc. When we decided to leave as my sister was at the register paying she broke down almost in tears explaining our experience to the young gentleman taking care of our bill. Both my sister and I worked in the industry for years. I did for nearly 15 years, so I understand when a place is short handed etc but to have people just keep passing us by ignoring our table is absolutely deplorable, including the newly arrived evening staff. But worst of all is especially the manager/owner only caring about the takeout orders seeing our next order paper at the end of the table. I can’t say anything about the week days but I recommend not going on the weekends or ever sitting in the first booth on the left of the entrance. Other booths and table weren’t ever ignored. Even with my sister having a good experiences in the past there she will never go back, and as my first time there definitely will never go back. In closing the only reason we stayed as late as we did, we all felt that almost $40 persons two orders wasn’t worth the price. I am appalled that my sister spent nearly $200 with only my my dessert being taken off the bill. I hope through this review, this restaurant learns something? With all your positive reviews I truly envy those patrons. Photo of my Tempura batter milk soup Date of visit:...
Read moreI’m writing this review because this was simply the worst experience I’ve ever had in any restaurant. So after a long day of skiing myself and four friends, all of us students, came here to get all you can eat sushi and bbq for $28/person. We sat down around 6:05pm after waiting 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered our first order of about 10pc of sushi and some beef. We didn’t receive the RAW meat or the sushi for an hour! Our water glasses were empty for over half an hour and our grill was never lit. We didn’t receive our second order until 2 hours after sitting down! Not only that but one us had to walk the order over to our waitress after trying to get their attention several times. Myself and my party became fed up with the terrible service and offered to pay for exactly what we received and ate (the 10pc of sushi and meat previously mentioned) and leave. The manager I believe, an Asian lady in a sweater, immediately called the police as we stood up to talk with the her. She essentially blocked us from leaving while threatening to call the police while at the same time already on the phone with them. The manager offered to give us a $100 gift card AFTER we paid for our meal, costing us over $100 for bad service and little food while also making us come back with a gift card. Luckily the police arrived within 5 minutes as they were close by. We sat at another table and spoke with the police explaining the situation. The owner then offered us a “deal” of 20% off our bill, which would be $95ish for 10pc of sushi, meat and 4 glasses of water. We of course refused to pay that and it turned into a waiting game. After 15-20 minutes she angrily came over and told us to leave, just leave! Thankfully us students didn’t end up having any trouble with the police (as we did nothing wrong) and we were able to leave after 2.5+ hours ! This place was bad news from the moment we called asking for a reservation and finding out they “don’t take reservations”. After arriving we found out that the open tables that were there were “reserved”. This place preys on its unaware customers and especially taking advantage of students. Please stay away unless being threatened by the staff or having the police called on you is...
Read moreI was actually fairly disappointed after reading so many great reviews. It was a busy Saturday dinner rush and we had a large party (9 people), so I'm always inclined to cut servers some slack. We had made a reservation way ahead of time so they could have the extra help, but for whatever reason they were very short staffed (it happens). Our poor stressed hostess exclaimed that it was very busy so we would have a wait, so we weren't surprised when we waited twenty minutes for a drink order to be taken, then another ten for said drinks.
Our waitress left to help another table before we could order anything, and about five minutes later a different woman came by and dropped off order slips and one pencil. We filled out the slips and received about half of our first order very quickly, which was great- we were starving! The sushi was great quality, if a little sweet. We didn't receive a full menu and there was no one to ask, so we had to do some guesswork as to what each sushi was.
We waited almost half an hour for most of the rest of our first order, and had two more slips waiting on the table the whole time. One member of our group didn't receive anything he requested until after that half hour, and with the small kitchen portions, remained both hungry and forgotten until the third slip order came. All in all, we didn't receive about 25% of what we ordered, and received two dishes that didn't belong to us but we couldn't flag a waitress to save our lives (or our empty glasses). We tore up our last slip order, as it was clear that no one was coming for it.
We wanted to speak with a manager about missing so many dishes but it was already later than we'd planned to be out so we just gave up, frustrated, and paid (28.99 a person).
We won't be back even though the sushi was fresh and the kitchen options were tasty, as there are many cheaper, more service-oriented...
