Super Smash Cafe has easily become my favourite weekend spot in Calgary. The collection of games, consoles, and accessories is unmatched. There is something for everyone. The vibe is a perfect mix of living room gaming, with a community space - takes the best of both spaces to make something truly special.
And the food!! It's genuinely fantastic!
Everything on menu is filling, reasonably priced, and all made in house fresh to order.
I haven't had the pleasure of trying all the offerings yet. However, every order on each visit has been consistantly fabulous.
The milkshakes are a real treat and honestly worth a trip for themselves. Additionally, Super Smash Cafe's burger was easily the best burger I have had in Calgary in almost a decade. (And I have eaten my fair share of burgers, believe me...)
The staff are wonderfully responsive and hospitable too! They were eager to make our visit the best it could be every time. That rockstar duo managed the front, helped us with the games and consoles, while they whipped up those amazing meals; all with a bright smile and fast responsiveness to every ask we could make.
Seriously, Super Smash Cafe - you have a real asset in your weekend team!!
It's all the small things that marked great care taken with the space of the Cafe, such as:
-Offering table-service when food was ready (so you don't have to pause your game to pick up your order) -Well-spaced couches which allowed for a natural-seeming while restrictions-respecting social distancing layout -The consoles around the room all set up and ready to go (which sparked interest in trying new games together with friends), etc. -The mix of menu items. There are the filling entrees (I can get a real meal and don't need to fill up on snacks or junk food), and also well-sealed drinks (milkshakes, frappes, bubble teas, etc) that you can easily sip at in between rounds on the couches while you play. (This was obviously designed with intention by someone who has done a lot of marathon gaming themselves and I definitely appreciate them preempting that need for both!)
Honestly I have no personal or professional affiliation with this business. It really is just that good and masterfully fills a niche I have dreamed of for decades.
If you haven't been yet, I can't recommend Super Smash...

There is one small fan for the entire store. There needs to be air conditioning as there is a pizza store next door and a lot of electronics running. It was hot to the point that we were all sweating while sitting playing games calmly. I have a heart condition so we couldn't stay the entire time we planned to stay. We all had to exit multiple times to get air.
The couches have lost their cushioning, so washable pillows or something should be offered so people don't get in pain.
I would recommend selling the coffee machine you don't use to finance the things needed to elevate your place.
Also, since board games are free, I would have a spot for people to donate games they no longer want for a small credit or something, so you can keep renewing that stock also.
While I was there, many people came in to ask about fruit smoothies, and you only offer milkshakes now. You may want to offer those smoothies.
The menus, food, and games all need updates to accurately reflect what you have in stock and how many people can actually play. Many times, it said 4 players, and it was often only 1 or 2 players. This was...
Read moreI'm only giving it 2 star because it was fast. Taste-wise and quality wise, this does not deserve 3 stars. Maybe 2. I am a pizza snob though and the ONLY reason I ordered from here is because 4 other pizza places were not picking up their phones and I was calling them for an hour straight. I also ordered wings, and the wings were disgusting: Covered huge fat jelly and the taste of the chicken itself was gross. The flavor was alright (honey garlic) but there wasn't even enough sauce. The Pizza though, NOT AT ALL enough cheese considering the dough is very thick. If the dough was thin, I'd maybe not complain about the lack of cheese. The ingredients were poor quality too. And the shrimps on my pizza were the tinniest things ever. ALSO I ordered ranch, and it was sooooo small it was good enough for 2 slices. The XL pizza has like 8 or 10 slices?! The sauce should just be enough for however much pizza I order? I didn't want to order from here, but it was the closest Skip the Dishes option, and my other go-to places were not answering :( I am debating on calling for refund because I ordered an extra large with wings for me and my friend and we hate it. It's all...
