We drove down from Edmonton to visit family and went to Big Al's for dinner because my cousin had said it was a great place to go.
Well that was not our experience our server (Tianna) clearly was having a bad day and had decided to bring her issues to work and take it out on the customers who are the ones that pay her wage. We had someone at our table that is highly allergic to aspartame and he had ordered a drink from the bar took one sip And knew it was diet pop. He asked Tiana if it was diet pop used she clearly indicated to him that no it was not and she took his glass and as she turn he said to her I'm highly allergic to aspartame and that is diet pop used as she's walking away he didn't even get his full sentence out she was rolling her eyes but that's not the end of it the coffee she brought to our table was clearly cold and it was asked of her to get us I new cup of coffee And she literally almost spilled it on herself taking it away. We did not even place an order for food because her attitude was turning us off so badly on Big Al's. We asked to speak to the manager and apparently there was no manager on shift so there was this other server who had a neck lace hanging down her neck into her cleavage who justified why Tiana had such an attitude as she was called in on her day off and she was doing her best to help the employer. We reiterated to this lady we don't care if she had to be called in on her day off she should not be Projecting her attitude to her customers. This person who stepped in did absolutely nothing no apology no nothing she disappeared withTiana for a few minutes and Tiana came back out with the same attitude. So we chose to take our money elsewhere. When settling the bill for our drinks I gave Tiana My business card as I am a restaurant owner as well and if one of my servers had treated a customer the way Tiana treated us, I would Have sent her home or contemplated where her employment stood.TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! We will...
Read moreOk, my chunky butt has been on a bit of a diet lately. Eating more veg, more white meat, you know doing that kinda thing.
Well today I had my very conservative lunch of jerk pork chops, and veggies and I just kind of hated that I had to eat it again today after having it for dinner last night, I wanted red meat the craving overtook my whole thought process. It was a necessity at this point.
So, I did what all rational people do and I googled steak sandwich near me....I found Big Al's, read the reviews, they are highly rated and not ridiculously overpriced. Food looks good, I'm hungry this is what I want.
I am swamped with work, not able to leave, starting to feel a little hangry and decided I need to satiate this craving for red meat, like now. So I ordered their 14oz steak. I've order steak for delivery before and requested rare, and it came a little more cooked than I'd like it as it does that when you stick it in essentially a little tin foil heat keeper. But, im stubborn and needed a rare steak so i took my chances, oh my goodness it showed up perfectly, perfectly rare.
They were super great about throwing in some horseradish sauce for me as well. Their sides, veggies and onion rings were delicious, but hands down the best side was their coleslaw. Balance of sweet, tangy and creamy...soooo soooo soooo good.
Service was great, the door dash diver was excellent as well. Super impressed.
Thanks to everyone. I'm a very happy chunky monkey now.
Also I only ate half the steak, 14oz is much bigger than I...

My mom, sister, and I saw there was a Saturday wing deal and thought we’d check it out while in Calgary for our Mother's Day weekend.
After bringing our drinks (a Caesar, pop, and water), the server didn’t come back for 20 minutes. we didn’t even have menus.
We tried to get her attention, but she was busy chatting with the bartender, cleaning a table, and repeatedly serving the people behind us. It’s a small section with only about five tables by the VLTs, so it was clear she was avoiding us.
When she finally came back, we asked for the wing special to go since it was obvious we weren’t going to get proper service. She said we couldn’t get the special for takeout and that since my mom had a Caesar, she could only get one order of wings. Because I ordered water, I wasn’t eligible for the special at all.
None of this was mentioned on their site or communicated to us beforehand. When she first took our drink order, she even mentioned that wings and pizza were on special...so why not tell us about the restrictions then? When I asked her directly, "So I can’t get the special?" she responded, “Well, you can’t expect to walk in here, not get something, and get the special.”
Beyond rude. Would not recommend.
We couldn’t help but notice a certain...
