Friday night my mother and I went out for a drink, appetizers and a meal.
We got seated at the booth that they have and above the booth they have mirrors along the walls. The waitress we had kept starring at herself in the mirror and literally talking to herself instead of us. Very little eye contact. As well we ordered a beer and an appetizer and that arrived and she asked if we wanted to order our main course, I communicated that we would like to have another appetizer as it was “happy hour” specials and then we would order our main. She came back at least three times to ask if we wanted our main and I mentioned very politely the second time that we wanted to drink chat and enjoy our time.
She came back at least 10 minutes later asking if we wanted our main and I said we aren’t ready but I guess we will order now. It just felt like she was rushing us to get out of their…. But you would think you would want us to take our time and enjoy the experience/spend more money. Once we ordered our main and it got delivered we then didn’t hear much from her which was kind of disappointing as I was trying to get her attention to order another beer and when it arrived it was wrong, and I couldn’t get her attention for another few minutes.
While we were waiting we saw a manager bring glasses to the bar in a box and he started stacking them at the bar for the bartender to use. We thought no way… these should be washed first and NOPE… the bartender started using them and serving these unwashed glasses to guests….
I did not have a pleasant experience at this specific location and wont go back. I felt very disrespected to the sense our waitress either struggled to stare at us when she was talking or she was nervous, but then we find out she is a manager and not a waitress which is more shocking as a Manger you should be looking at your customers. Very rude and not the best experience.
As well, when one of the ladies dropped off the food we said thank you and tried to ask for napkins but she just walked away. We were not rude to any of these staff members but it felt like a horrible experience at the Browns...
Read moreAll I can say is wow. Ordered the fish and chips for nearly 30 dollars including the tip, and received two nugget size pieces of fish as pictured. The food was also strangely overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside for both me and my partner. We reached out to the owner asking for a refund and also just to bring attention to the food not being cooked properly, and we received zero accountability for the poorly cooked food, they lied and said the image didnt go through and asked me to email it, taking days to respond until they finally mentioned I'd have to get my refund through skip because it's a third party app. Of course, upon reaching out to skip they said after 48 hours they don't do refunds, so the owner purposely delayed responding to me asking for a refund so they could keep my money.
Scummy business practices. I could have gotten sick. All I wanted was soft food after my oral surgery but I couldn't even eat this, it was way too crispy on the outside and chunky and cold on the inside.
For the price too, 30 dollars??? Like your minimum wage staff would have to work 2 hours to afford this inedible, mcnugget sized piece of fish.
Edit to reply to response: From the response you can clearly see how unprofessional they are. Very strange response. All I'll say is careful not to get food poisoning here! From other reviews, seems like undercooked/overcooked food seems to be their specialty. Also, you really shouldn't be allowed to siphon good reviews from previous ownership, this place is no good by the looks of the...
Read moreGreat location - no mall traffic to contend with, good staff, and my food was perfect.
This Brown's Social House kitchen just schooled my taste buds and became the answer to a long search for finding great fries AND getting a perfect burger too!
My burger was as perfect to burgers as a perfect steak is to steak lovers. Even the fries were exactly perfect the way they should be yet noplace ever gets them just right - the right inviting 'must try' golden hue, the right otter Crunch without just being overcooked, yet just the right inner softness with that fresh cut potato flavour locked in without ending up 'soggy', or just... basically yam fries (which, sorry, I see as invented simply to cover up the difficulty in making a perfect order of real fries consistently, lol).
Regarding their burger, I evaluate burgers by trying different condiments and combinations to see how the base flavour and cooking shine through - have burgers open-faced so I can do this, and this was simply delectable with Chipotle aioli, with the 'secret sauce', with BBQ, mayo, mustard, ketchup, just pepper, etc and every combination of flavours I tried stood the test as well.
I'm a BURGER guy btw, almost the only meat I eat. Weird, I know, but that's how it is so I've become rather critical/praising of something so commonly overlooked as a great burger being more crafted, than simply just made...
Try one here, you'll see. And I'm surprised at how effortless they made it seem... thank you Elbow/50 Ave SW Brown's!!
Thanks all. (forgot to take pics,...
