My complaint isnât for this location, I generally love the service I get at all locations except for the new Royal Oak location. Iâm placing my review here because the Royal Oak location has no to little online presence and I am unable to properly review. The operations at the Royal oak location is horrendous. No digital presence. A new opening should have all their ducks in a row, at least with how to find your business and learn what you are offering. Especially during a pandemic, digital methods for customers to gain information or order should be paramount. I canât find the address, menu for The cafe or anything online. Only some photos on social media.
Covid safety protocols arenât enforced properly. And line up navigation should have proper signage. If you donâ want people to enter a certain door lock it or have a sign that says âplease use other doorâ. Instead they have a long sign about how itâs unfair to shop at both cafe and bakery..Iâm really confused at their priorities. As I finally figure how to enter the location. I watched as people left the line from confusion or customers all walking in the âwrongâ door. The only enforcement is a worker who seems to have her job spilt. eventually blocks you as you try to enter and redirects you. I must say, she must not be happy or really stressed, cause Iâve been here three times and all three times sheâs not very pleasant to talk too.
line ups are going out the door and no one is managing the line up outside or informing people of whatâs going on.
They also provide conflicting information. I ordered a cake for pick up. They asked if I need a receipt. I asked If I need it for pick up. They said no. I came to pick up and they asked for confirmation number which was not provided previously.
Even if this is a franchise opening there should be consistency in their marketing and...

My partner was looking forward to trying this bakery so we went out of our way to pick up a pastry and try it out. We picked something up and asked the cashier if it's ok to sit in the back in the cafe area because it was empty and it looked like it was more for display than utilitary, cashier said 'yes, go ahead'.
After we left my partner told me while we were sitting there that the lady working there was complaining in korean to the cashier that went something to the effect of "why did they have to sit down, they should just leave". They assumed we couldnt understand what they're saying but my partner is fluent in Korean. That really put her down to make her think she did something wrong.
How incredibly rude and ignorant do you have to be to say such things within earshot of paying customers and assume they won't understand you. She was quick to brush us out when we were leaving too. Just for context, we sat down for less than 10 minutes after we ordered and this place was almost 3 hours from closing time. Were we that much of an inconvenience? Absolutely shameful behavior.
The inside was clean and well kept and the pastry were decent. Only reason I'm not leaving a 1â.
You could have the world's best bakery/cafe but if you treat customers with such passive aggressiveness especially when you, in lack of better terms, talk s**t to their face without them understanding or at least assume they don't than you don't deserve their business.

   Read moreI went in as early as they open as the cafe is conveniently located near Chinook. The lady busy arranging their displays of pastries didnât offer a hello nor did the barista. Literally the barista didnât offer a simple hello even after I greeted him. As a matter of fact the lady didnât even budge to get out of my way as I was trying to help myself with their pastries.The cafe in general is clean and they do play good music. The oat latte I had was mediocre to my taste with no effort to make an art. Most of their offerings are a bit pricey. I wouldnât mind paying a bit more for my pastries and coffee, but if the staffs should learn what customer service is all about. For the whole hour I stayed there with no other dine-in customer around, not once did anybody stopped by to check on me. They seemed to be friendly only to other Koreans, greeting them so warmly.
