Confluence Distilling — Restaurant in Calgary

The spirits themselves are amazing. Having bought a few bottles for home before I was eager to try the actual distillery. The young lady who served us informed us it was her 3rd day on the job (this was a couple weekends ago) and did not know much about the products. She seemed very overwhelmed with the 10 people that were in there and was a little awkward (told us she hadn't eaten all day when we asked how her day was). She also didn't know about happy hour or what drinks it featured. It kind of took away from the experience. There was a hipster dude in the back on a computer who seemed uninterested in giving her a hand. I recommend training / mentoring your staff before letting them loose on their own. Really bummed about my experience here. I went to get a bottle of negroni for a friend and the online price was 55 dollars. So was the price written under the bottle on the shelf. The guy working charged my 68 dollars. When I realized, I asked about it and he said that the 55 dollar price was for online orders only to encourage more orders.

So I paid more money coming to them when I could have paid less making someone deliver it to me? When I pointed this out the employee shrugged and didn’t offer much else, no refund or anything to honour the sticker price.

What an amazing gem hidden in the Brewery District but minutes from downtown and the stampede ground.

The atmosphere and the decor is amazing. Even more so when I learned that the two founders did the work themselves. Right down to cutting each piece of flooring.

Another amazing fact is that Confluence is the second distillery to open in Calgary. Their vodka is to die for. I don't know how they get the smoky and vanilla hints in it but as an Eastern European I was hooked.

Their cocktails are to die for and are very reasonably priced compared to most downtown location. This is a total hidden gem in YYC a must place to stop...
