Old Fashioned Meat & Deli — Restaurant in Calgary

From the moment you step out of your vehicle you are greeted with a warm smoky hug from the onsite meat smoker!

You then proceed into a very unassuming small grocery/deli. A good selection of European fair from fresh to frozen and canned to jarred.

The deli counter has solid selection of in-house made sausage & meats which all looked mouth watering. Cheese selection was a little small however everything did look fresh in the display counter.

My purpose was to try the sandwiches I have been reading about. I ordered a cold cut with everything on it. All sandwiches are made to order and the meat is cut to order as well.

With great anticipation my sandwich was finally done and for only $9 I scampered to my car to see what all the fuss was about.

The fuss was 100% justified! The quality of meat and smokey flavour hit every taste bud point. Just enough mustard and mayo, but seemed like more mustard which is perfect because I LOVE mustard on my sando’s. (FYI, the mustard was very delicious) Then, a generous layer of creamy white cheese and topped with a subtle and not overly pickled pickle.

If you want a sando that is bang for your buck, this place will hit it every time! I would honestly pay more, that is just how good the smoked meat combined with the other toppings made for an unforgettable sando experience!

The best polish deli and one of my favorite place to shop!

Old fashioned meat is a Polish deli, the store is small but they offer wide range of meat and pierogies. I am no expert of Polish food but I have enjoyed everything from this place especially hunter’s stew, bacons and prosciutto.

I always get sandwiches from them, their sandwich is simple but amazing. They put a lot of meat in the sandwich yet their pricing is very reasonable.

Their service is warm and welcoming. The store gets quite busy but they always treat me with kindness. I’m thankful for their food and service, you guys...

I waited at the till patiently for over 10 mins. I was about to order a sandwich and the elderly lady brushed me aside for the other customers in the deli.

The customer was kind enough to tell the server that I was there first waiting and should be helped first and she didn't mind.

The elderly lady made a hand gesture in my face that I am not important and I walked out.

I have never been treated so poorly, like garbage.

If you are not ethnically related (if you are not Polish) : this Deli doesn't want your business.
