My friends and I stopped by for a meal during a late overnight shift and witnessed the most bizarre and unprofessional behavior among staff members, directed at our server.
Our server, Pearl, was enthusiastic and friendly, taking our orders with care, and our food arrived promptly. When we received a berry waffle instead of the French toast, we politely asked for a replacement. What followed was shocking—a loud, passive-aggressive exchange from the kitchen staff. It was a harmless mistake, especially at 5 a.m., and their reaction seemed completely unwarranted.
I also requested gravy for my mashed potatoes, which wasn’t included initially. Pearl explained there would be an extra charge, which I was aware of and happy to pay. However, the situation escalated unnecessarily, with staff making a spectacle out of this simple request. Another server, Namrita, brought me the gravy at no charge, even though I had no problem paying for it.
Over the next 20 minutes, we could clearly hear Namrita and other staff members speaking loudly in their native language, openly ridiculing Pearl. As South Asians ourselves, we understood everything being said and were appalled by the level of disrespect. Pearl, visibly upset, had already asked them to speak in English when interacting with her, yet they continued their behavior unabated. It was akin to high school bullying, directed at a hardworking colleague who appeared to be older and doing her best.
Never in my life have I witnessed such blatant unprofessionalism and disrespect among restaurant staff, especially in full view of customers. While the food was good, the atmosphere was soured by the toxic behavior. No intervention from a manager was made, and the lack of accountability was glaring. Staff should not be loudly conversing in their native language on the floor—let alone using it as a tool to belittle a fellow employee in front of patrons. It was clear they wouldn’t have dared to say those things in English, which makes their actions all the more troubling.
Management needs to address this immediately to foster a professional, respectful work environment. Staff cliques and bullying have no place in a hospitality setting. This experience left us with a bitter impression, despite Pearl’s excellent service.
P.S. These reviews are so blatantly littered with fake reviews praising the same person by name over and over again, it’s...
Read moreWaitress overcharged us and was too lazy to fix it. We came in with a group of friends, and were all shocked over the mediocre service. Right from the start, things went downhill—no effort was made to arrange tables for us (the waitress just pointed to one side of the restaurant and expected us to put the tables together), the bill was brought out before everyone had finished eating, and we were rushed out at 3 PM on a Sunday despite the restaurant not being busy. The worst part was our interaction with our waitress at the end of our meal.
When we ordered, we clarified that my boyfriend and my order would be together in one bill. We ordered an entree with soup and a milkshake. A cup of soup is regularly at $5.99 but is $3.99 with an entree. At the end of the meal she gave us one bill with the soup at the regular $5.99 price. Thinking it was just a mistake, when I politely pointed out the error she was defensive and refused to correct it, insisting I hadn’t claimed the order was together even though she only brought us one bill.
She wasn’t taking no for an answer and I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of friends over a $2 discrepancy, but the dismissive attitude and lack of accountability really soured our time together. We were hoping for a pleasant outing with friends but left feeling frustrated and disappointed at the sloppy service. We will not be coming back. Not to mention our steak was cooked well done instead of...
Read moreOur server was Meenu, and she was wonderful. She was very pleasant and helpful with menu choices, we enjoyed her good nature very much! She had us laughing and smiling. She kept our coffee full. I ordered a T-bone steak that seemed to be...I don't know, boiled maybe? Instead of grilled. Haha it was not great. It was not a good color (I ordered rare and there was not one single speck of pink on it, but the middle was still pretty raw, so that was weird), no flavor, I brought it home for my dogs. My father had a sirloin with his breakfast, it was a little better, at least the right color. The rest of the food was delicious! We come here very often, when my dad has his radiology appointments nearby, and this was the first time we were unhappy with the food, so we didnt complain- but it was also the first time we ordered steak haha. Lesson learned, stick to the pancakes!! The people are always nice here, it's always a good experience. Many smiles are had, and Meenu is my new favorite Denny's lady haha. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully sit in her section! For an affordable breakfast place, this one is a great option. Just...
