Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Calgary

I have mixed feelings about writing this review as the food here used to be very fresh and warm but it doesn't feel like it anymore.

The past 2 times I have gotten spicy chicken sandwiches they has come out cold let alone fresh. The first time I asked them to make it fresh and I waited 20 mins just for them to serve a bunch of cold sandwiches. When I confronted them they said the mayonnaise is what made the sandwich cold and that they would remake them and we waited again. After waiting for some time one of the staff members mentioned that since the previous burgers were fresh they were gonna double toast the buns instead of making fresh burgers. So I just got a refund and basically wasted around 40 minutes due to them not being able to tell us they can't make us fresh burgers from the beginning.

I thought maybe it was just a one off but today I bought some burgers and they were cold. Also just as an FYI we eat them in the parking lot so we can eat them whilst their warm. Also we came at 2 different times one was at 10 pm and the other was around 4pm just to see if anything changed.

It doesn't make any sense because before the burgers at this location used to be so warm you could barely eat them. ( in a good way)

No respect. I ordered food through the drive thru, when I got to the window the debit machine said the was a chip error. The woman at the drive through window asked if she could just tap my card to which I said no. We tried again and the same error appeared. She explained that they had been having problems with this machine. She called the manager over to have him try to fix the machine. When he came over he told me it was my card and not the machine and there was nothing he could do. I explained that I had just used that card several times with no problems. He then asked if he could tap my card to which I responded no. We tried again and the same message appeared. He asked if I had another card which I didn’t. He then proceeded to TAP MY CARD AFTER I HAD JUST SAID NOT TO. He acted like nothing happened until I called him out on it then gave some excuse about not hearing me say no which is no excuse! Not hearing the no doesn’t mean you have consent. He illegally completed a transaction by tapping my card against my will. He then said he would give me a free drink, acting like he was doing me a favour. I refused the free drink and left. I’ve never in my life written a review before but this was so shocking to me. The best thing I can say about this place is that it is clean.

That being said, this place is an embarrassment to the Popeyes franchise system. When it opened it was okay, but now they just don't seem to care anymore.

The ghost Pepper wings were mostly bone and coating, scrawny little things. The sides were incredibly bland (coleslaw and rice/beans) and obviously have been sitting for too long. For the price, you can get better value elsewhere.

They didn't even have BBQ sauce, they were all out. How does that happen at a chicken place? Their pop machine was out of syrup for most flavours, and I doubt anyone has maintained the machine since the place opened.

The staff there were some of the slowest moving and not motivated folks I have ever seen at a fast food restaurant. That's saying a lot. Their manager the slowest of all. I couldn't believe how slow everything was, yet they were fully staffed. They couldn't even be motivated to shut off the malfunctioning audio system in the store. Crackling in and out loud music was maybe to encourage people to be annoyed and leave as soon as possible.

These issues in my experience are usually because the leadership doesn't care anymore. Popeyes should either get them in line or take...
