Fresh-adilla is located in the Market on Macleod. The menu is small, with 1/3 of the dishes crossed out as unavailable on this visit. I opted for two items: a quesadilla and a sope.
The sope, which is described as a circle of corn maize with pinched sides comes topped with refried beans sour cream, queso and your choice of meat. The quesadilla comes with melted cheese, sour cream, queso and meat or veg.
After ordering, there was a bit of a wait to receive the food, around ten minutes. However, I did not mind one bit because the reason for the wait is that they make the corn tortillas on demand, pressing the maize mixture in a tortilla press before cooking them on a flattop grill. Unassuming and a bit hard to find but the food is amazing and the people that own and run the place are very friendly. The food here is Mexican street food but no tacos or fries supreme on the menu. Don't get me wrong I love taco bell but this is a different class of food altogether. We're talking gorditas, sopes and quesadillas all made fresh and piping hot.
You can tell there is love and plenty of skill in what I assume are authentic Mexican flavours. There is a seating area in the back that is bright and open. Perfect for a casual lunch.
I recommend the gorditas for $5 each (a kind of sandwich made with pork, veggies and cheese inside a deep fried masa bun), but everything I have had here has been delicious. Plus they have in-house made desserts and they sell their own...
Read moreThis is the best Mexican food experience I've had outside of Mexico and this is coming from somebody who lived in Mexico for 10 years. They have the typical Central Mexican dishes like pozole, tortas, tacos, quesadillas. I'm thinking flavors that you are going to be very happy with, generous portions, reasonable prices and most importantly a selection that is both satisfying and memorable The staff also cooks so they're kind and know what they're doing. The place is super clean and inside of an office building which is the only drawback because they don't have the opening hours of a regular restaurant. If you're looking for the most authentic Mexican food without having to pay an arm and a leg, and you care for what you eat more than for where you eat then this is the cleanest and tastiest...
