My friend and I visited Il Chianti this evening after a long day of moving from B.C. to Calgary. I will admit that we were not looking our best and upon entering the establishment, chatted with the host/Waitress and humbly asked if we were appropriately dressed to dine in. She seated us and thus began our experience. The dining experience from the service side was horrible, the waitress seemed to have a bee in her bonnet the whole evening. Upon asking if she was having a bad night (she appeared to be the only service staff), she replied that she was having a great night and thought we were mad at her for having to wait twenty minutes for our drinks, and then wanted to argue with us. I don’t believe for one minute that the customer is always right, that is a false statement in most cases. In this case, we were treated poorly, and not checked on once to see how the food was. On a positive note, the food was incredible and huge compliments to the chef. This is the first time I have ever been made to feel uncomfortable in an establishment, and for that reason, I will never go back. As well, this is the first time in my lifetime that I did not leave a tip. Sorry if you had a bad day, but your customers that come in to support your business should never have to pay for your...
Read moreMy elderly Mom, daughter and I came to this restaurant for a relaxing dinner. Relaxing it was not. My Mom is on oxygen and has not been out for dinner for months. Her health unfortunately keeps her home much of the time. Even yesterday, she soldiered on as she was not feeling well. She got dressed up and looked forward to a nice evening out. We were seated and were enjoying a glass of wine when the “waitress” came to our table and advised there was another seating at 7. It was 5:30. We were made to feel irrelevant and rushed. My mother does not stay out for long. After dinner, I asked this same woman if we had time for dessert, she advised “a quick one”. It was not yet 6:30. Fast food service with 5 star pricing. I had arranged for a ride to pick us up at 7 prior to going. I wonder if she actually expected my 82 year old Mom to wait outside with her walker and oxygen tank? When you choose to support a small family restaurant and pay their inflated prices, it is not an unusual expectation to allow 2 hours to enjoy the time out. We were not afforded this courtesy and I highly recommend NOT supporting this restaurant...
Read moreThe worst of the worst dining experience we have ever had! The server was staring at us at the front door without any proper greeting or courtesy to make us feel welcomed. He led us to a table, offered a menu rudely to make us wait for a while, and then he passed by to throw a glass of water at our table. We told him that we are ready, but he replied curtly I am not. We were shocked by his cocky and disrespectful manner! He made us wait for another 10 minutes, finally we could tell him what we want, his answer was either we don’t serve this or we don’t have that. We made a deal to order two steaks for the main course, and what we cannot believe was 10 minutes later he came back to us again with the same extremely arrogant attitude to tell there’s only one steak left. We can no longer tolerate his attitude, we had to walk away! For sure will never ever come back to this...
