Eastern Fortune Restaurant offers a truly delicious culinary experience that is well worth the visit, despite a couple of minor drawbacks. The food itself is the star of the show, with every dish we tried being bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. From appetizers to main courses, the quality and taste were consistently impressive. However, be prepared for a bustling atmosphere. Eastern Fortune is clearly a popular spot, and it can get quite busy, especially during peak hours. This can lead to a bit of a lively (and sometimes loud) dining experience. Additionally, finding parking in the vicinity can be a challenge. It's a good idea to factor in a little extra time to search for a spot, or consider alternative transportation if possible. In conclusion, if you're looking for fantastic food and don't mind a lively environment or a bit of a hunt for parking, Eastern Fortune Restaurant is an excellent choice. The delicious dishes more than make up for any minor inconveniences.

The food was really good. This was the first time I have tried Oyster Omelette and it was delicious. It's exactly like the name it's a stirfry of oysters and veggies rolled up into an egg. So tasty a definite try. We also got some classics like salt and pepper squid and beef stirfry noodles. Noodles were nice and chewy and it didn't feel as greasy as other restaurants. And the last dish we got was their special soy chicken. I don't think I've ever had chicken that was juicier than this dish. It's fall off the bone, perfectly cooked chicken. I don't know if this dish is on their menu as my husband ordered in Chinese but I'm sure if you asked for it, they'd totally understand. The nice touch was they also gave us some red bean soup dessert just like as if you were dining at the restaurant. We will definitely order from this place again as they had so many items we wanted to try.

WOW... blew me away how good the food taste here. I think the last time I've been to this place was back in early 2000s. I'm sure it has gone through many owners... First off, this place is CLEAN! One of the cleanest Chinese restaurants in town. It's carpeted rare these days for Chinese restaurants, but gives that warm feeling. The food, we order a 2 course duck, the duck was the best I've tested in a long time. Crispy skin all around, and the wraps, taste just like homemade and the duck sauce, not overly sweet. Their crispy cream noodle lobster dish was the best of all... smooth tasting, not salty, not over powering... just love it! Service was excellent. During this pandemic, you would imagine, service is slow and understaff, not at this place. Got tea service and clean plates every few mins...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Yah I get it, it's not the Ritz and although this place is generally well known for crappy service, last night I was there and this crap service has risen to a new level. My wife and I went to this place for a late night meal about 930 pm on monday night. As we came in the waitress gave us an exasperated look and motioned us over to an unbussed, unclean table as she came over with a dirty rag to spread the previous meals grease and droppings evenly around the table (this isn't even bad, we fully expected this to be the normal operating procedure here). We have been here before so we knew exactly what we wanted. I was COMPLETELY ignored even as I directly asked my waitress to order food when she was dropping off the menu, I asked my wife of if the lady was a deaf mute... But no, this is just normal for them if you're not in the inner circle apparently. They treat you with disdain or as if you were invisible. Imagine yourself sitting at a table while the waitress walks over and silently dumps the menus on the table and a pot of tea, you already know what you want so you politely ask if you can make an order, she looks at you and there is a palpable feeling of complete indifference even though it is not possible that she didn't hear you. THEN STILL without saying anything she walks off to another table who came in after us, where she greets them warmly proceeding to make recommendations from the menu... Seriously...

This service experience is a new low for me. My wife and I are always polite, tip well and not demanding. As we chose to go to this place my wife and I already had set the bar very low for customer service, in fact I really didn't expect much more than the order to be taken and food to be dropped off. My wife and I are Chinese, we order in Cantonese, the language they are native to. Our service expectations aren't much higher here than Macdonald's, in fact it is lower because at least at Macdonald's the junior high teenager working the till will greet you.

WHERE I DRAW THE LINE IS COMMON DECENCY AND MANNERS. Even a small child, yes even a dog knows it is impolite to ignore and not acknowledge someone when they are being spoken to. This place is THAT over the top.

If you want any DECENT SERVICE OR ANY SERVICE OR TO BE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN avoid this restaurant at all costs.

In summary:

Indifferent waitresses? Fine.

Angry, indifferent and surly Service? Fine.

Dirty bathrooms and greasy tables? Fine.

Being treated as if you were a urine soaked leper asking for small change at a stop light? That's where the bar finally hits the ground.

There are much better options for Chinese food unless you want to feel like you're Oliver twist shaking your tin mug asking if you "can please sir have some more?"

AVOID!!!!! I AM NOT...

Just wanna say this restaurant is the worse restaurant here in Calgary when it comes to treating their customers right….instead of welcoming us or offering us a good table.. the server or owner wanted us to sit a table across the front door where cold wind gets in whenever it opens..:when we asked if we could sit somewhere warmer, the man or I think he’s an owner already gave us an attitude telling us it’s because it sits 10…there were other tables that sits 10 or more…2nd, when we got sitted, instead of giving us the menus the lady asked if we are using forks or chopsticks…she asked one person not all..when my friend said he will use fork, she just started taking all the chopsticks….then she started taking all the bowls…when one of my friends asked why is she doing that, the server replied “because we are all using forks…” there was a misunderstanding (maybe language barrier) but instead of the owner asking us what was wrong he just said “ is there a problem” in a rude way…We told him there’s no problem but we said the server was rude as one of the person in our group said “why is she looking at me like that? She looked at her (a friends mom) a mean look…anyways the whole situation got escalated to the point where the owner insisted of apologizing just said it’s because we didn’t book a reservation…and said that if we have a problem we can just leave…so we all left and just went to a different restaurant where they treated us like customers…but yeh, I would never recommend this restaurant. Very...

Delicious food, awesome service. Why have I been going to other Chinese restaurants, when it was here all along? I can’t wait to try all the other popular dishes.

I was reading on here, a all so good! I’ve never seen a 4.5 stars on a Chinese restaurant before and I guess that’s how good this place is!

Some negative reviews seem like it’s not really about food, but the price. I honestly think food portion and price is set right. $20~ per dish is what you are supposed to expect these days in Calgary. You get what you pay for. Even 2 meals and McDonalds is 35$ these days.

And if you are using Skip The Dishes, UberEats, Doordash - note that they take 20~25% of their listed price on there. Don’t blame the restaurant, blame the platforms that take that much of money for you to have delivery services. (+ the service fees and delivery fees + your Uber One subscription)

If you truly want good price good food, pick it up or eat in! Don’t give these hard working people bad review because you think Chinese food should be 10$ like back in the 90s.

Sorry about the rant, but this is a bit of a pet peeve. Good restaurants deserve good reviews about food, service, and pricing depending on the economy.

If you are a foodie like me, who thinks good food and hard working people should be rewarded, and you think good food = good money, I recommend this place highly. My friends and I will be returning...
