Capri Steak & Pizza House — Restaurant in Calgary

I don't know about the sports bar, but the restaraunt was very disappointing. Frankly it looked like it pilfered it's furniture from a cheap motel room that hadn't been rennovated since the '70s. So it was very surprising to find the dishes were largely $25.00 or greater, with several manu items above $50.00. With those kinds of prices I expect them to offer some fresh ground pepper hahaha. At least, much higher quality ingredients than what you would expect at a roadside diner (a good one, but still very basic).

The fettuccine was way over sauced, but surprisingly lacking in much flavour (though it was still OK). It was better after I heaped on some parmesan, pepper, and chili flakes. Despite being a bit better, it made me wish I could go back and make it at home. And the garlic toast was... similarly disheartening. It's hard to mess up I know, and garlic bread is wonderful, but this tasted like you might imagine if you buy the worst kind of hamburger bun, toast it, spread some unsalted butter on, then rub a clove of garlic against it. It is a cheap and simple item, which is why I can't make excuses for the result. Even it's generous slice size is actually a bad thing given the outcome.

However, there were some good points. The portions were large, and although the pizzas were small and uninspiring for the price, they did have a generous ammount of toppings (incl. cheese). I also appreciated that the chicken was actually breast meat not the poor cuts with connective tissue. Most significantly however, the servers were very friendly.

Ultimately, it just isn't worth the money at all. Hell, even boston pizza would be a better choice. I would give it 2.5 with more reasonable prices. Probably a 3 with better prices and a little TLC to...

Will not return after many years and thousands of dollars spent at this restaurant. Took my wife ( for her birthday ) and a group of family for a Sunday dinner. Waitress was great and all the meals were acceptable, one was not. One family member ordered a filet minion and when it arrived the cut was not something that should have been served to customers ( for the price they charge ). Told the waitress and she brought over the owner and that is when things took a turn for the worst. His approach was to yell at the guest and insist that there was nothing wrong with the meal. I decided to not make a scene since it was my wife's dinner. Our guest was left to eat the poor excuse for a meal, I paid the bill of $380 and gave a nice tip to the waitress. Today I returned to speak with the owner about what had happened. Things did not go well, Andy was just as insulting and rude as he was the night of the dinner. His son Nick was there as well and he chimed in with more rude comments, WOW. This is how you treat a customer who has spent thousands of dollars in your establishment over the years. At one point he even accused me of always complaining about meals..... WOW, why would I continue to visit your restaurant if I was not satisfied with the food. Needles to say I will not be returning to Capri Steak & Pizza house and if I could rate it at zero...

Was in 2 weeks ago with friends for dinner and was served pink chicken. I showed the waitress working that my food was pink. I wanted it cooked. She said she'd bring it back to the kitchen and reheat it when the owner or manager what ever he was, over heard and asked what the problem was. I told him my chicken was raw and he look at it and "no its fine just eat it" NEVER BEFORE HAVE I BEEN TREATED SO POORLY. ALL I WANTED WAS COOKED CHICKEN AND THE OWNER REFUSED TO REFIRE MY MEAL. He tried to even get me to pay i said I will not pay for uncooked chicken because that's disgusting. We got into a shouting match and my guests were quite disgusted at the owner brutful behaviour. 0 PROFESSIONALISM. We proceeded to leave as the owner was still yelling at us. The server was even quite RUDE as well. Just REHEAT MY MEAL BUT NO THE OWNER IS TOO HIGH ON HIS HIGH HORSE. WHAT A JACKASS COMPLETELY RUINED OUR EVENING. I WILL NEVER EVER EVEEEERRR GO BACK TO THAT DUMP. I AM AMAZED THAT THIS "RESTAURANT" has 3.8 star review on Google. If I could, I would give It a ZERO OUT OF 5 STAR'S.
