Lac Viet — Restaurant in Calgary

I ordered from this restaurant through skip before and the food and coconut water was really good so I ordered again today. My experience this time around was really bad. The food was still pretty good but the coconut water I spat out a piece of plastic the size of my nail. My two year old daughter was also drinking this but it was a good thing I had scooped this from a spoon and she wasn't the one who had found it. We couldn't drink the rest as I was fearing there maybe more and to my surprise when all the ice melted I found more smaller pieces. I called the restaurant to let them know the situation and although the lady was nice she was also telling me that they are aware "this kind of stuff happens." Because it gets shipped from Thailand. I was furious. I don't care if it's being imported from somewhere if you're aware this stuff happens don't get it from the same supplier where there containers come in the form of plastic that can break off through shipment. The worst and frustrating part was that she was kind of giggling. I just hope through our first initial sips that myself or my daughter hadn't ingested any smaller ones. I'm not saying don't eat here because the food is not bad. It's pretty good. I just want people to be aware. If it happens to one drink who's to say it doesn't...

This was always my go to Vietnamese place because the food has been so amazing, but my last experience was kind of..gross...I found 2 hairs in my food, one was clearly a lash and one looked thicker, kind of like facial hair or head hair? ... I immediately lost my appetite and just wanted to go. I'm usually pretty shy about bringing up any issues so my boyfriend waved a server over, she saw the hair and gasped, apologized, and grabbed the plate to show her supervisor. No one came back to see if I wanted a new plate made or if I just wanted the meal comped (which I did). When I went to the till (My boyfriend paid- little did I know he ended up paying for my meal too) and the lady tried to tell me they were remaking the meal, I explained I didn't want it and that it was fine and I'm not hungry anymore..She then tried passing the hair off as lemongrass... lying to a customer who just found hair in their food is just poor customer recovery...I know what lemongrass looks like... just own that someone in the kitchen got hair in the food and offer the customer a choice in if they want it remade or...

Do not understand the high ratings. I love viet food. This is the worst pho I have ever had. All my viet friends would have said the same thing, because they have taken me to have a good pho this is not it. Besides as a minority I also felt the customer service in there sucked. No smiles no welcome , but the caucasian customers were treated like kings so if you are of brown or anything don't expect to be welcomed or be treated well. All in all I ate a quarter of my bowl because I was hungry not because it tasted well my 17 month loves noodles had two bites and was like uhm no mom sorry. Did not bother taking it to go. Maybe this works for people which have never traveled and are not very accustomed to "different kinds of foods" but for those of us who have traveled the world and have had all types or different flavours its not impressive whatsover not even the msg amount that was in there covered up the bad taste. I am not usually that harsh with food criticism but this was just a plain disappointing ...
