This little café has been the greatest addition to the neighbourhood. Initially, I was attracted by the charming ambiance of lovely music, minimalist but open space, and fresh flowers on the tables(!). Then, I tried the first thing that called to me (a cinnamon bun - excellent), and now I can't stop trying! Every treat I've tried so far has been delicious, from the cheese croissant (try making a breakfast sandwich with it - you will never want a breakfast sandwich on any other type of bread), to the tarts (I've tried at least eight kinds, all amazing), to the fruit éclair (which felt almost too fancy to have for an afternoon treat, but sometimes you need to treat yourself and just enjoy). My coworkers have also really appreciated the shareable almond bread and samples of various tarts.
Most recently, I entrusted Minuet with creating the focal point for my birthday - the cake. I couldn't settle on one, so got a big hollandise tart with fruit on top, and a large hazelnut ganache cake. Given my overwhelmingly positive experience with the baking from this establishment, I had high expectations, and the outcome (attached) exceeded even those. The tart was the "best pie [one of my friends] has ever hard". The cake was the perfect combination of dense, rich, and just-right dryness. One of my European friends was so impressed with it, she wished to get a full one for herself. To note, the hazelnut cake only comes in the large size - so I am not sure she went through with the idea.
Overall, Brentwood is lucky to have such talented and hardworking folks providing excellent-quality desserts with caring...
Read moreI came across this shop when I was searching for my son’s birthday cake. We called in and were told the flavours suitable for kids are Caramelized Vanilla and Chocolate Truffles. We went in and got a slice of Caramelized Vanilla cake and a slice of Coffee cake. The owners were very friendly and both slices were delightful. They had the perfect amount of sweetness and reminded us of the cakes we had in Vienna. My son picked a 10” chocolate truffle cake for his birthday without tasting it as it was sold out (my son became a heavy chocolate lover since the Europe trip last year).
Fast forward to the birthday party, the cake was a huge hit! Multiple parents commented the cake was so delicious and asked where I got it from. I was able to recommend the lovely shop to them! I am usually not a birthday cake fan, not a cream fan, and even less a chocolate cake fan. However, I really enjoyed the cake and ate the whole thing. The chocolate flavour was not overpowering and might be slightly lacking for some chocolate lovers, but was perhaps more preferred for most people and perfect for a birthday party. All plates were empty, which is rare for a 4th year old birthday party.
Thank you Minuet Cafe! You are now our favourite cake...
Read moreI went here knowing nothing about it as I had just dropped my wife off nearby. Google recommended this place to me when I typed "coffee" into the navigation.
The place is tiny and is located in a small strip mall with an awkward parking lot in front of it. I opened the door and was greeted by a very pleasant lady who took my order and busily got it together. A fellow as behind a counter busily finishing up tarts so you know they are made in house.
The cappuccino I ordered had a design in the foam with a bit of chocolate drizzle. There was also a dusting of what tasted like cinnamon. The coffee tasted great and I was asked if I wanted sugar in it which I declined.
I also ordered a piece of cheesecake, coffee cake, and a lemon tart because they looked amazing in the display case.
The cheesecake is quite light and subtle in flavour. The texture is light and almost almost whipped.
The coffee cake is a Greek yogurt coffee cake and is quite creamy with a very pleasant coffee flavour.
The lemon tart has a nice crisp shell with a beautiful lemon curd that is packed with lemon flavour. There is no questioning what you are eating.
What a gem of a place to stumble upon. I'll be recommending people go there when...
