Do you love brunch? ☑️ How about options? ☑️ Well then, this place is just for you!
Before I begin how incredible this place is let's get to the ugly first.
The only thing that I could find wrong with this location, mind you this was the first time stepping into a Cora, so maybe other locations don't have this issue.
If you guessed parking you were right. This location in Brentwood was easy to find and close to a lot of other amenities and restaurants, however, the way the building was designed and the parking pads were executed is poor.
There isn't really many places to park and being where it is located it doesn't have a designated area for consumers to park. Cora, along with other nearby restaurants share the parking lot, I can see this being a major disappointment during peak meal hours. This means you will have to find parking in another lot or around the block to access the restaurant.
The space itself: Once you walk in, you will be greeted by a small hosted area that allows you to oversee the entire place or most of it.
From booths to the tables, there is a cozy nook for every size of party.
We were seated next to the hosted area in a booth, great size for our family of 5. 2 adults 2 teens and a child with lots of room and then some. So check that box for space and comfort!
The atmosphere is quite nice, very bright, probably not the best lighting for a hangover or someone sensitive to light. Bright blue light, not warm dim lighting as most restaurants you may have been to.
Our experience;
Our host was so pleasant and our server Kathy was next to nothing but incredible. With a family and many options to choose from we can sure promise will need a minute or 20 before we order. Kathy was patient and took our drink order and came fast like a lightning bolt with our beverages and kept her distance and asked us in what felt like proper wait times to see if we were ready to order. Once we were ready, she was informative and super quick to get our order into the kitchen.
Now let's get to the mouth-drooling anticipation!!
Normally we love to choose different dishes so we can do taste testing and see what kind of portions different dishes hold and have a variety of different foods to tickle our taste buds.
However, we did a double dish with a total of 3 different dishes and a child's plate.
Here is what we ordered; Adult plate #1.from the Ben and Dictine section:Steak Lover (ordered 2 eggs)
It's definitely a dish to order again! The fresh fruit was cut just like the images plastered on the walls so cool to see in person and tasted like you just picked it from the tree itself, so fresh!
The main dish was delightful, mouth-watering with every bite, great to have a twist on that hollandaise sauce. The right amount of spicy and all the vegetables paired together with the perfectly cooked steak was a meal, my husband won't be forgetting any time soon.
Adult & Teen plate #2 from the teen lover section : Breakfast poutine FYI - frankfurters are hotdogs. Something I skipped reading because the picture looked too good to care about what was actually in the dish. If you're a hotdog lover this poutine would be made for you, however, it's a food I like to enjoy on a hot day outdoors or after a few cold ones, not typically with my brunch, although I ate like 85% of it it wasn't what either my son and I were into. I would say this was like a 6/10 meal. Again it was more the frankfurters that made that score. I think it would be 1000% better with sausage!
Teen 2 and Childs plate: Louis the Undecided. & Crape Choco Banana. Both undeniably big taste and good for the soul! Our daughter also ordered a side of bacon and eggs.
Our meals came with what felt like 5 minutes after ordering so quickly! I believe this was the first time we ever got a dine-in meal this fast! Triple-check for speed!
Meals avg between $20-28 a plate. Which is average these days. Overall good portions for what you pay for.
I would highly recommend enjoying a meal here any day and...
Read moreI absolutely love Cora's. It is my favourite breakfast place, my number one choice, and I almost always get the breakfast poutine when I'm there. What a delicious comfort food treat!!! (That said, I've tried other dishes there, too, and all of them are always delicious.)
I used to go to Cora's at Northland Mall before it closed down and moved to Brentwood. I notice that some of your staff members from that location moved with you. One of the staff members I see almost every time I'm there, and who has served me dozens of times, is Jamie. He is such a great person who always provides the absolute best service, just as he did again today.
I like my eggs medium poached, and many places get this order wrong ... perhaps, because they are too rushed to care??? I like them with the yoke runny but NONE of the white runny. The white has to be perfectly cooked. If I order this as "medium poached" at some places, they inevitably screw it up and I end up with part of the white uncooked. At other places, if I order this as "medium well" to ensure the white is completely cooked, they inevitably screw it up, and I end up with a fully cooked hard yoke and white. So, although medium poached eggs are my favourite, I always hesitate when I order them, because I worry that the kitchen will get it wrong. Well, Jamie assured me it would be fine, and that he would explain things to the kitchen on my behalf. My poutine came back to me with PERFECTLY POACHED EGGS today! Yae! Cora's team knows how to do it right, and your staff (especially Jamie) is always amazing. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
One more thing about Jamie that needs mentioning...
He is always watching everything around him and doing his best to ensure everyone has a great experience. Today, there was a family seated nearby, and their child was playing and accidentally threw some cutlery on the ground. Within about 30 seconds, and without any hesitation at all, I saw Jamie walk over, quickly pick up that cutlery from under their table, and take it back to the kitchen. He is very aware of his surroundings and clearly cares about his workplace because I don't think that was even one of his tables. He got the job done, anyway. What a great guy! Give...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I used to love having breakfast at this location. With her parents coming over from Vietnam, we’d thought to bring them out for brunch and let them experience Cora the way we had when we come. Unfortunately, on the day we came. It was 12 pm on a Monday, it was the complete opposite of what we thought it’d be.
Our server Joyce? Talked too fast that we barely understood what she said and nodded at the moment. She made us feel rushed and barely came to check up on us. When asked what we want to drink, she filled one of the cup entirely full of water.
There were 4 of us, but she only gave 3 plates. And when I asked for another plate, she gave me a plate that had water mark and stain mark on it…. I wish I could’ve taken that picture, but it doesn’t show on camera. But can be easily spotted with the lights
Food was meh, unlike before when we came. The cheese? On the Theo’s omelette was very oily. The toast that we had was burnt, is that the standard on how toasts were supposed to be made?
We are introverted people and are not good with confronting. We came with the thought of having yet another amazing experience. Instead, we see our server having a pleasant long conversation with her friend on another table. Barely even came and properly served us.
Food was disappointing.
We played as if we are enjoying just so the parents would have a great time. Just because we came at 12 pm on a Monday doesn’t mean the quality drops and we get treated poorly. That’s not fair isn’t it?
Utterly shocked and disappointed.
Will be having doubts coming back to...
