Didn't feel that I got good value for my money , $18 for a coffee and a savory pancake seems excessive to me unless it fine dining. And if it was fine dining they need to remodel and replace the old tables and chairs . $3.50 for a coffee? Probably won't return , but the meal was tasty. And nice to see a restaurant that severs something different. I am shocked by all the 5 star reviews , been here twice and never thought anything was outstanding. (In reply ) K let me reword my review . 18 dollars for a tiny savory pancake with hardly any bacon on it what so ever so basicly flour egg and water , meat costs nil . The coffee was indeed strong but the cup was tiny and the server did not inform me that refills were free . Bonus points for the tiny cookie though . And as per the comment that this style of dinning generally costs around 20 a person, sure but normally a person would be somewhat full after the meal , sadly not the case for me . Yes maybe I should have ordered sides but one would think 20 should feed a person. It's hard to enjoy your meal while the table and chairs are all uneven and wiggle . And yes it is hard times for a lot of people right now , you make it sound like you are the only ones dealing with hardship . You speak as though the quality of the food is outstanding, and maybe it is sometimes but my meal was quite sadly lacking in terms of bacon the only ingredient that really costs anything well that and the coffee. (Yes maybe I should had said something to the server but what's the point a bacon pancake with almost no bacon is easy for both the cook and server to see, and they served it so I am guessing the amount was intentional ) So personally I believe you have already started to sacrifice that great quality you speak of .
I tried to be fair and not to nitpick in my initial review I did not mention how cheap they were with the toppings because I thought maybe it was a one...
Read moreWhen you choose to attend this restaurant, you do so for the delicious food. The location is nothing special and the dining room is basic, but the food is FANTASTIC, and the staff are friendly and attentive. 'Pfanntatic Pannenkoek' is unique and deffinitely corners a niche market. Their menu consists of Pannenkoek (which are essentially 'Dutch Pancakes' and are similar to crepes but slightly thicker). There are several different sections on the menu, including an extensive 'build your own Pannenkoek' section for the truly creative or particular diner. The rest of the menu is divided into 'savoury ', 'specialty savoury', 'sweet and savoury' and 'Sweet' sections, each boasting a fair selection of tried and tested combinations to choose from. This time I had a 'cinnamon roll' pannenkoek with baked apple added on. It was an absolutely amazing meal. I was pleased that it was 'rollable' since I prefer to roll my pannenkoek and cut and eat them that way. Many other patrons simply leave their pannenkoek flat and cut their Pannenkoek into small pieces (similar to how people usually eat western pancakes). The drink menu has a decent variety of 'usual' drinks, and the drinks are presented in a charming style (eg. coffee comes with a 'spekulas' cookie on the side), i had hot chocolate, which came in a tall decorative glass mug with whipped topping and chocolate dusting the top. The pictures on the menu are accurate and match what you recieve. There are also several types of favourite Dutch treats available in packages for purchase to take home. I and a friend went for brunch on a Saturday morning and their was no wait to be seated. Service was timely and we did not feel rushed at any point. Overall it was a great experience here, as usual, and this restaurant continues to be...
Read moreI am sad to say that we had the worst experience today( August 28) at what was one of our favorite restaurants and also we were excited to be introducing you to a friend of ours for her first experience. We, of course we used to waiting to be seated, however once called in we waited over 20 minutes without any acknowledgement then a table just seated(after 20 minutes) was acknowledged and asked for their order. When we politely asked the girl who pointed to our table instead of seating us, if we could order, she commented that our waitress would get to us " when she could get to us", we replied that those ordering currently just were sat and that we had been overlooked and again rudely were told "she will get to you when she gets to you". We actually got up and left and were very disappointed. This restaurant has been our place for celebrations..birthdays..mothers and fathers day and we bragged to everyone we knew, not to mentio have spent alot of money with u. We would hate to write you off but at this point we are completely turned off and sad. Our usual waitress was clearly doing everything and was over worked...and the hostess today definitely needs some lessons in etiquette and customer service. The best part was the little guy who brought us our water. We aren't the type to usually complain or make any sort of big deal bur we were so embarrassed that we gave u such a glowing review and it fell so short that we had to leave, and we thought ownership...
