My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of having brunch here about a week ago. We were both very impressed with the amazing food quality (Artisan Bagel & Salmon Eggs Benedict were super yummy and very delicate) as well as the friendly service from Harsh , who greeted us with kindness and was very attentive the whole time. We also go to meet the super talented chef/owner Varun, who was nice enough to talk with us and tell us about his impressive culinary journey in various countries and cuisines. He is extremely passionate about creating exceptional dishes and making a lasting impression with his customers. We liked our first experience at Chef n Farmers so much that we ended up going back a few days ago with a couple of friends for dinner , and we all really loved it ! Standouts were the calamari, lamb & fish tacos, and delicious home made desserts (citrus creme brulee and salted caramel ice cream). As I am writing this review, my girlfriend and I are actually planning to stop by this morning for coffee and croissants. Varun makes everything himself and his croissants are literally to die for . We already tasted plain & chocolate, which were awesome , and really looking forward to his Almond croissants which , apparently , are the favorite of clients but they had run out when we were here for brunch the first time . We look forward to many more delicious meals at this outstanding gem of a restaurant!...
Read moreI really wanted to like it…honestly, this pains me to write a poor review like this.
Tonight we wanted to check out this “hidden gem” of a restaurant (as advertised). We have gone to the tennis club for over a year but haven’t checked out the food yet…until now.
First - food. I felt badly for the chef because he appeared stressed and likely short handed. One of the two orders were incorrect and I was told it would take a while to correct the order, so we just went with it. It was all just average even though presentation was nice. A table beside us said their salmon dish was good - so maybe I ordered wrong?
Atmosphere. Dirty dishes were out on the tables for over an hour without any table wiping or clearing. It was fun to watch tennis matches and had a laid back feel to the restaurant. Even a cute little bar area where a musician was playing. That’s something I appreciated, even though the rest was a mess.
Service. Again - I think they were short staffed. It took 7 mins to get a menu and i had to hunt down the server to even place my order. After 45 mims, food arrived. Only one of the dishes were correct but we were starved so just went with it. There was no credit to my bill for delays in service or apologies for the incorrect order.
I can’t say I’ll return for a meal. I hope this experience is the rarity rather than typical...
Read moreWe popped in here as we'd seen some postings on FB about this hidden gem. It truly is a gem and perhaps too hidden. Fantastic food, focused on local sourcing.
We had the tacos as a starter, followed by the steak au poivre and the blackened salmon.
Tacos are flavourful and juicy. I'd actually go back just to have those as a quick, light snack.
The steak was perfectly cooked, the pan pepper sauce was delicious. Veggies were perfectly tender, crisp.
The salmon was also perfectly cooked, not dry at all, and the pan sauce was fantastic.
Added bonus, the patio is dog friendly and they brought a bowl of water for our pooch.
Easy parking, it is upstairs from the tennis club and they have an abundance of parking.
We'll definitely be putting this place on a regular rotation for...
