We have been meaning to check out Sho for quite awhile, and finally took the celebration of as the excuse we needed.

At about 630 on a Monday, we were seated immediately in a near empty restaurant, in a nice, spacious booth.

We went hard in the paint and ordered pretty much everything that caught our eye. This was not a small list.

We started with an order of the salmon sashimi and the tuna sashimi, and both were fantastic. Obviously very fresh and exactly what you want out of sashimi.

We followed that up with the mixed veg tempura (broccoli, zucchini, yam, onion, and red pepper) and some shrimp tempura. It was all fabulous. Very crispy.

The chicken nanban was absolutely terrific, though I had hoped it would be a little crispier than it was.

The shrimp dumplings were exactly what you want out of shrimp dumplings, which is shrimp and not much else.

The tuna tataki was well presented and tasted great.

We went with the dynamite roll and the ocean mountain roll, both with their salmon components on the side, and they were quite tasty.

We also tried out some of their "crispy sushi" which is sushi served in wonton cups, and while the concept is fine the execution wasnt very exciting.

We finished off with the pressed ebi sushi, which contained.. more basil than youd expect in a sushi roll. It wasnt bad, it was just different.

To close out the meal, they bring you a small bowl of frozen grapes, which is a nice touch.

All in all, Sho is probably the best sushi we've had so far in Calgary, and given its proximity to home, we're gonna be back.

All the above plus two sodas (free refills) came to about $120 before tax and tip. Not cheap, but...

WOW if you haven’t been here this is a MUST try in Calgary if you’re visiting or a local. Ive been to many sushi restaurants all around calgary, Alberta, BC and the Hawaiian islands.

I was blown away by my experience ar Sho. All around literally everything is 10/10. Sho is absolutely one of my new favorites and will be my go-to for future celebrations or date nights.

Classy vibes, decor and atmosphere is really nice. Service was SO fast. Like very impressive! From the lovely young lady who seated us to the gentleman “Sunil” who served us (and answered the phone when we called in to see if they had an open table) I honestly haven’t had such genuinely kind service in so long. Wow! Accommodating. (They moved us to a different table that was in a less cold area no problem and let us sub pork for chicken no problem and genuinely no fuss!) the people are so Kind andFriendly. Everyone working here looks Happy.

They were also very on top of filling out water and FAST at taking away plates even with it being moderately busy/busy during our stay.

Everything was plated beautifully the chefs did such a wonderful job.

Highly recommend the ramen. Broth is delicious!

Also highly recommend the shrimp dumplings

I usually wouldn’t try deep fried ice cream but trust me on this - you must try it! SO good.

This literally sounds like some type of ad so I want to be very clear - I am in no one associated with anyone at this restaurant! 10/10 YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!

We will be back. Thank you so much to the whole sho team. You’re doing...

First time trying this place in Calgary!! Gotta say it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a sushi place! We asked for a mango sushi roll with cucumber and avocado & basically paid for an overpriced cucumber and black brown avocado roll with the thinnest slice of mango. The manager was extremely rushy and way to in your face about everything & when we asked for the bill to leave bc of the time everything was taking he started a mini argument which wasn’t professional at all. We ordered gyoza 🥟 first they came out last but took over 25mins and the sushi was made fast an sloppy and when we got up to leave, the gyoza came and he insisted we take them to go even tho i didn’t want them. Just a very unpleasant experience overall. I would not recommend this overpriced place. Plus the service was awful and the manager needs more training on how to treat customers properly without forcing them to make uncomfortable decisions. Like he ran out of the door to bring me the gyoza that we didn’t want especially after I heard the kitchen say oh they are getting them for free ? Who’d want them then or after how long they took ? The drinks also weren’t very good tasted watered down and we had all the food almost arrive besides the gyoza before we ever had the drinks. Yes they didn’t charge me for the drinks or gyoza but for 3 of the 5pc sushi rolls were over $25...
