We have not been to the Keg for a very long time and it’s going to be even longer before we ever go back! We wanted a special dinner to celebrate our anniversary but it was a huge disappointment for a very hefty priced meal which would be easier to swallow had it not been such a terrible experience! My $52 10 oz prime was actually so dry I had to use the au jus (which was tasteless water) just to give it a little moisture in order to eat it. I have always ordered the Prime rib whenever I eat at the Keg as it’s always been so amazing!! The worst was the $48 crab legs my husband ordered that had a long blonde hair tangled in the middle of the crab after he had eaten the majority of them (we both have short grey hair so obviously not ours!!!) I would normally complain but he had thrown it onto the floor before I could stop him and as he was not feeling good as it was, so we just wanted to not make a fuss on our special night. Our server was pleasant enough but nothing exceptional that you might expect from a fine dining experience. What a terrible disappointment! I have never been disappointed at any Keg and this was our first time at this location as well as our last! UPDATE august 6: I have had zero response from this Keg location to my concerns so it is a definite NO that I will ever dine at this location again!!! So many other places to choose from that will appreciate customers and their customers concerns!!! UPDATE November 3 my concerns have been addressed previously and made right by the Manager Kirsten as she listened to my concerns so we have given the restaurant a second chance and we were not disappointed! We had a very nice evening with a delicious dinner and had great service by Shannon! The food was excellent and we really enjoyed our night out at The Keg! Thanks for listening, thank you for a lovely evening with great food and service! We really appreciated all of Kirsten’s effort and attention! Great work by all! 5 STAR all around as I have always know The...
Read moreI've patronized multiple Keg locations in the city over the years and it has always been a consistent experience. Dinner on Wednesday night was no different.
Both of us ordered non-alcoholic drinks that were refreshing and tasty. The complimentary table bread was delicious. Warm, pillowy bread and the butter melted into it perfectly. We shared a cheese toast for an appetizer and it standard. I don't think cheese toast at steakhouses is worth what establishments are charging, next time I'll go for my tried and true starter at The Keg, their calamari.
For mains my dining partner got the Blacked Chicken and I got the Prime Rib Sandwich. I took a star off for food because my sandwich unfortunately came with enough gristley bits to constitute a slice or two of the meat itself. It's very offputting to bite into that type of texture. The rest of the sandwich was good, the fries were great and salted perfectly and I enjoyed the au jus dip. I was told the chicken was good as well so no complaints there. We shared a slice of Billy Miner Pie and as usual, it was perfect. The almond slivers are so good and go well with the ice cream and fudge.
Atmosphere wise, the restaurant wasn't too loud, but it was quite dim which can make it look dingy and outdated even though I know they renovated recently.
The best part about the whole experience was the service! Absolutely outstanding service from start to finish. I can't remember their names, but we were served by two gentlemen, both with brown hair and facial hair; one in all black and one in a blue suit jacket with a nose ring. Both of then were fantastic and a pleasure to deal with.
We will definitely be back as this is now the closest location to me and as I said at the beginning of the review, I always have a pleasant...
Read moreIt is extremely disappointing that for the rest of this year and at least a week into next year this restaurant will be closed for in house dining. This is exactly the time of year one would love to have a succulent steak, grilled to perfection with all the trimmings!
The Keg has taken great care to erect plexiglass barriers between tables, have sanitizer everywhere and staff that are organized with cutlery sets for each individual. Even their automated text line that keeps you informed of when it is your turn to be seated is very helpful for the times that we find ourselves in now.
As always, this Keg is great with children. The children's menu even has steak at a size that is appropriate for children. They even make sure to ask the kids directly how they want their steaks cooked and what sides they want. It is excellent training for them and they feel validated as big kids!
You can never go wrong with the Primerib here and the French Onion Soup 🍲 is spectacular here too! You will not go home hungry for sure!
Can't wait for 2021! I think we all share that sentiment don't we!
UPDATE------
Reading back to the way things were in the early stages of Covid19 and realizing how things are now makes me so appreciative of the opportunity to gather for a birthday party with my grandma. She has turned 91 now so we have no idea how many more she has.
It was so nice for the head chef to come out and personally wish my grandma a Happy birthday and to check how our meals were. Of course thw meals were all excellent and the staff were very much on the ball in their service of the food and drinks.
The birthday mud pie was HUGE!
Here's to family gathering for lifes...
