Its been a very long time since I've come here to eat. At least a little more than a decade for sure since I last tried the food here and that was as a teen in junior high/high school. Because of how long it was, I couldn't remember how I felt when I decided to give this place another try and see where it was with what the food tasted like.
Unfortunately, me giving this place a second try might of been a bad decision on my part and also another factor that played into why I couldn't remember coming back here for years on end. I think the biggest issue this restaurant may have is obviously the quality and taste of what they serve depending on what you're ordering. I only ordered two items from this establishment but it was enough to convince me not to return again after the results and outcome of the food I received when I returned home to eat.
One of my items I ordered was a Beef, Mushroom and Baby corn mix. After I took it out of the bag, one of the things that did seem positive from this ordeal was that the food was at least very hot to the touch. It allowed me to know it was at least cooked and warm to enjoy. This is when the issues started arising for me in my personal preference. After taking off the lid and allowing the steam to disperse, I could clearly see that everything was included as aforementioned with what I ordered but the discolouration for the beef looked offsetting.
I'm usually use to seeing a much brighter colour coming from my protein any time I order from my "usual" go to Chinese restaurant. But in this instance, the beef had a very greyish colour to it along with the fact that it had a strange slimy texture coating not just the beef, but also the mushrooms and baby corn. The Baby corn also wasn't as glimmering as anticipated, it had a very dull stale yellow/whitish look to it. It practically was in contrast with how the beef looked in comparison. After noticing this, I still decided to give it a try and noticed immediately, after biting into the beef, it definitely didn't exude the "fresh" taste you would experience, and was more like you were eating something that barely had any sort of flavour. If described in one word, bland. Although there was sauce in my container mixed with the contents, it unfortunately did not compliment the meal overall as the stale taste was a little more empowering than what the sauce could offer.
The Baby Corn did taste similar to what I felt might of been fresh but made it difficult to continue to eat it because of the slimy effect that was added and lathered upon the content of my overall dish. The Mushrooms I feel might of been the only thing I could properly eat and digest as they tasted better than the remainder of what my meal offered. I took the liberty to just throw out the protein unfortunately due to health reasons and also because I had a older family member eating from the same dish. Wanted to be wary with the wellbeing of my family member not getting sick if that does occur.
My second item I ordered was a Lemon Chicken entree and because I've had it at a specific place I go to often, in my mind, my expectations for what I assumed I would be getting was directed with this place giving me the same type of dish or at least similar to it. Again, I was let down and disappointed. It was not as I had thought and failed to impress. If I had to describe it, it looked like your average ginger beef or sweet and sour chicken. Not the crisp cut up Lemon chicken I'm so use to getting, along with a ramekin of in house lemon sauce. The Colour looked okay for my second order, but the taste wasn't really something worth bragging about. Although it wasn't scrumptious after trying a bite, it did definitely taste better than my first order. I think the problem with this order though in general was that whoever cooked it might of over done it with how long to cook it as it was a little harder than usual and straying away from the actual freshness of what the food could of potentially offered if cooked properly.
Overall, service was fast, quality of food...
Read moremy boyfriend called Three Fortunes and made an order for pick up. After we picked up the food we went home and the food didn't taste very good. Ginger beef was mushy, and the chicken balls were all dough and really hard (difficult to chew through) and the rice was very oily and bland tasting. My boyfriend called into Three Fortunes and let them know we were going to stop by as we weren't able to eat this food and get our money back. The restaurant refused and the manager Henry that answered, was yelling so loud I could hear him as I was sitting by my boyfriend. He kept saying he would give us 50% of our money back and my boyfriend said we would like 100%. I kept just telling him to hang up because the manager was irate. So we did and instead I thought maybe it would help if I went in and spoke with the manager. So I went into the store asked to speak with the manager and Henry came to the front. At first he was ok not irate like I had heard him earlier. I asked him if he could please look at the food and understand why we are returning it. He opened the containers and I picked up the ginger beef to show him how mushy it was and he said that's the way they serve it. He said if they returned all the customers food that complained they would have gone out of business...... I told him if that's true then he should definitely realize there is a problem. He offered to make me new food and I said I prefer to take my business elsewhere after all of this. He then proceeded to tell me no customer except me has ever complained. I told him I just wanted to avoid all this fuss and I would just like my full amount refunded and he said no. I went to grab my food and he grabbed it out of my hands and chucked it in the garbage. I didn't appreciate how rough he was with me... and did debate on calling the police. He gave me 9.00 when the meal came to $17. The other woman there gave me another $2 after more complaining. I let him know that I would like to talk with the owner...

We have been long time customers of this place. Before it changed owners, the food was so flavorful, hot, fresh and done well. Now, I don't know if I will return. I am going to try other places especially because what we got was not even close to what it used to be.
The inside of the restaurant is blah. There used to be a beautiful aquarium, so sitting inside was entertaining. They took it out. There is now a small alter on the floor. No qualms about the alter itself, but perhaps a table could enhance the atmosphere be more pleasant if they tried to make it a more visually pleasing standard. The walls are dingy and look like they haven't been washed in a while. The menu on the wall needs to be updated. The visual cards have ones with no picture. Why not just remove them???
So, for $62, I ordered chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli, garlic spare ribs and wor wonton soup. For the price I paid, you would expect gourmet. We were really disappointed in the quality of food over all.
The chicken fried rice tasted like it hadn't been rinsed before it was half way cooked and then fried. There was hardly any flavor and you could tell just by the soy sauce color it wasn't great. The beef and broccoli dish is a usual go to, but the broccoli was so mushy, I couldn't finish it. The wor wonton was okay, aside from having to remove a huge, thick piece of pork. And sadly, the garlic spare ribs are a definite no for me. They used to be dark golden fried, crisp, full of flavor and tasty. What we got were big mushy pieces of boneless spare ribs cooked to a light golden color and not much flavor. I won't order.from here again. They need to up the standards of cooking their food. This was a waste of money and a sad disappointment. For 21 years we have been coming here and never had any complaints. After this, it's a no for me. It's time to find a new Chinese food...
