Let me preface my review by saying that I initially hesitated to give Villages a 1-star rating and instead provided my feedback directly to the business. After they failed to address my concerns to my satisfaction, I am now posting this review, confident that it reflects how the business is currently being run.
I remember Villages being quite good in the past, but I’m not sure what’s happened. Perhaps there’s been a change in ownership—who knows? The dough was disappointing: chewy and basic. The pizza itself had a soft, just melted texture, like it had been microwaved or was an instant pizza.
The toppings were the biggest issue. The meat appeared to be deli-style sandwich meat, thinly sliced, and sparsely scattered across the pizza, giving only a "just enough" coverage. The cheese, though melted, looked somewhat translucent—I'm not sure if it was a quality issue with the cheese or just not enough of it.
At first glance, the pizza looks okay—just enough to be passable—but when you look closer, it’s clear that the pizza is very bare-bones and lacking in quality.
The lack of toppings was my initial complaint, and to their credit, they offered to make it right. I took them up on that offer and placed the same order again a few days later. I also asked if it was possible to add banana peppers (as they were part of my original order). To my surprise, they tried to charge me extra for the topping.
If you’re trying to satisfy a customer and make up for a previous mistake, why not just comp the topping? I should also mention that I was still charged “tax” on the pizzas, which didn’t quite add up. They were going to charge me for the banana peppers until I said, “Forget it, it’s fine.” The manager then said, “It’s okay, we’ll just add them on.”
Their initial offer to "make it right" and the way they handled my concerns earned them 5 stars for service. However, attempting to charge me for a topping on a "complimentary" order has dropped my rating to 1 star. For what they’re charging for these pizzas, I expect better.
Save your money. You’ll get better value and quality from places like Pizza Hut or Domino’s.
P.S. I still tipped them on the complimentary order. If you are considering this place, go two doors down and try the taco...
Read moreI have ordered from Villages many times. Their food is awesome; I especially love their Calzones. The past three times I've ordered from Skip the Dishes, however, have been an atrocious experience in terms of customer service.
One very bizarre thing Villages does is not mark the boxes with what each Calzone is. So, I order multiple Calzones, but can't determine what's in each one without dissecting it with a knife and trying to piece together what ingredients are in which. This has happened each time.
I've also received the wrong Calzone three times in a row. Some of them within the order are correct, but there is always one that is completely not what I ordered (ingredients missing, random ingredients added that were not in the order).
All in all, I love their food, but am super disappointed with the accuracy and customer service each time. Bowtie Pizza on Centre Street is just as good and seems a little more accurate. Maybe it's...
Read moreReally disappointed in our experience tonight. We've been ordering Villages every Friday for months, best pizza in the area! Tonight, we ordered as usual and prepaid online. After 1.5 hours we thought we'd call and check on our order as it hadn't been delivered yet, they weren't sure what happened but said they'd make it and send it out. Finally, 2 hours, 10m after our initial order the delivery showed up, but the driver insisted we had not yet paid. My husband was showing him our receipt but he said it was not paid, and had to call back to the store. There was no apology for the extremely late delivery, or misunderstanding regarding payment. After all of that, it didn't taste as it usually does, and has a bad odour. I'm not sure we will continue to order anymore, we will start looking...
