The same dude owns this location and the Hunterhorn location. But based on recent experience: I think this location has better looking cakes and the hot food quality is better.
I am also amused by the fact they naturally made the door handles to look like a giant version of the signature, plastic red spoon.
I also like how it's on the same block as the bus stop, so it's more convenient and easier to come here since I don't have to transfer buses.
The only complaint is that some idiots were complaining at Hunterhorn about how their cake prices are cheaper than Sandstone, so they raised the prices to match. Those idiot customers don't have brains because first of all, Sandstone's location is corrupt. Secondly, if they had just gone to Hunterhorn in the first place, it wouldn't have been a problem because it is cheaper anyway. BUT it IS a problem NOW because this location has to match the prices with Hunterhorn, since it's run by the same owner. So that's shooting oneself in the foot not only once, but twice...
The reason Sandstone has higher prices is because it's in a desolate area that's not really near any malls, stores or real restaurants. So they obviously gets less traffic. If you are in a good area and get decent traffic, then you WILL sell better than them regardless of price.
So based on professional opinion, I would recommend lowering the prices back down to $27 for an 8" and $32 for the 10" and tell the Hunterhorn customers to grow a brain and STOP GOING to Sandstone because that location is corrupt!
I used to get a cake twice a year... But now I don't see that I will ever get another one unless it's a serious celebration like a wedding, graduation or going-away party. Not that any of these events will ever take place in my life, but...
Read moreThis DQ is right beside a high school so the vibe here is always a little bit funny however school hasn't started yet so the place was totally dead. The staff were really letting down their hair, listening to Shine FM (a contemporary Christian music station) at a generous volume. I know this because it took 3 Christian rock songs (12-13 minutes) plus a few ads to get our Blizzards ready and my kid asked why every song was about Jesus. As an Atheist, I am very proud that my kid has a low tolerance for that nonsense and I wonder why they chose this station to play.
Despite the place being empty, all of the tables on the east side of the shop were dirty (garbage on the table, crumbs, etc) and a few on the west side as well. I'm not sure why the Blizzards took so long. Mine was runny and grainy but the ones that the kids ordered seemed fine. I will say that mine was well mixed and had lots of goodies in it, as were the kids'. One of the staff had horrific BO and should not have been around food with that kind of hygiene. Our person was pleasant and apologized for the wait which was nice. I can only imagine that the Christian rock is being used as a strategy to get the high school kids to move along.
Looking forward to the canned...
Read moreI have been going to this Dairy Queen ever since the location on Centre Street and about 18 Avenue NE closed due to a fire. The last few times I had gone to this location they have decreased the amount of ice cream that they put in the cup. It barely touched the rim. I was there 2 weeks ago when they also cut back on the ingredients they put in the blizzard. I just figured it was due to inflation. Well I was at a different location yesterday and they were very generous with the amount of ice cream and ingredients. I won’t be back to this location unless I hear they have gone back to their normal portions. Shane on the employees for ripping their customers off.
RELATIONS TEAM Instead of asking me to explain more of my complaint, I was expecting your reply to say that Dairy Queen management will discuss this matter with the staff. After I had sent this review in, I read all the other reviews and most of them were bad, and a lot were referring to my kind of issue. Let your staff know that eventually they won’t have a job, because without customers you don’t need to keep the doors open. I won’t be back to...
