I wanted to satisfy my craving with something spicy, flavourful and Nigerian but it looked like i was asking for much.
On Ubereats, I ordered Jollof rice with Fish, Plantain, Moimoi and Suya @1:27pm - it got picked up at 2:13pm and delivered/arrived at 3:40pm.
Jollof rice — It tasted so different like there was crayfish added to it. I wasn’t a fan of the rice. It was a little bit too soft and sticky. If there was crayfish in it, it wasn’t mentioned on the ubereats description which is high risk for people with allergies. Moreover crayfish shouldn’t be in jollof rice if it isn’t native jollof.
Moi moi - I think I’m more upset with myself than anything… for having high expectations. The moi moi was tasteless. All i could taste was the blended beans. No flavour whatsoever. But the size was a decent one.
Plantain- It was ok. Ripe and fried properly.
Suya- I was hesitant to eat it because it looked like boiled meat with no seasoning. It came in a silver paper bag. No veggies (onions, tomatoes, cucumbers or cabbage) or a sprinkle of Suya spice. I think if a restaurant adds Suya to their menu, it should be properly prepared on a bbq grill and served with the additional items that comes with suya.
Fish - A restaurant of this size and popularity shouldn’t screw up in frying fish. The fish was tasteless, no flavour, tasted fishy, dry, hard and old. And the fact that I’m a Port- Harcourt lady… i couldn’t ignore the way this fish was cleaned. There shouldn’t be fins on a served fish.
Will I be back? No.
Was it manageable? I mean if there wasn’t any other Nigerian restaurant and I was starving then yes I’d manage it just to fill up my stomach.

Edit: From your response. You lack customer service. Which I now agree with the rest of the other comments on here.
I never commented on the spice level… or did I? hun don’t teach me about Canada, I’ve been here longer than you and actually do have a restaurant in a different province. So if you saying i don’t know what great food looks like… makes you sleep well at night then good for you.
I shouldn’t have to ask for the basics that should come with Suya.
Explaining what you added to your moi moi still doesn’t make it tasty or flavour.
I stated the order and delivery time… not sure why you’re trying to explain to me or your audience. Lol that’s weird.
“Beef” with you or your business? I don’t even know you. Hun, if I had a beef with you, i won’t even spend 0.50 cents on you or your business.
Lol Best African Restaurant? Lol if you’re the best then others have to be that shitty for you to be at the top but i don’t think so. I’ve been in this business long enough to know to that numbers are all in the way one markets their products. Which I think you’re doing great in to be seen as “best African restaurant”.
There is nothing spectacular or special about your food and your customer...
Read moreI hesitate to leave this review, as it pains me to write something negative about a Nigerian business. However, improvement can only come through feedback.
This is the second time we’ve eaten here. The first time, we came for the Sunday buffet. While the food was good, the owner clearly needs some reorientation on customer service.
When we came for the buffet, we brought our 3-year-old child. We were charged for two adults and one child. I’m pretty sure a 3-year-old isn’t going to eat $15 worth of food, but hey ho—it is what it is. We collected our food and sat down to enjoy our meal, when the male owner came up mid-meal and asked if we were enjoying our food. We said yes. He then looked at the plates in front of us and stated, “We charge for wastage.”
This was a strange thing to say, especially since we hadn’t told him we were finished—or anywhere near done. I could tell he was referring to the $15 children’s portion we’d already paid for. Anyway, he never came back. Instead, at the end of the meal, his son brought us the bill—only for us to find that the owner had added another $10 “wastage charge.” How dishonest. He hadn’t even checked whether the food was still there; he had simply added the fee in an attempt to squeeze out more money. I told the son I wasn’t paying for it, and he promptly removed it without argument.
The second time we came back, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. We were the only customers in the restaurant on a Saturday night. We arrived an hour before closing, and our food was served promptly. The same owner greeted us, and at first everything was fine—until halfway through our meal, when he came and placed a takeaway box on the table, asking our daughter if she was finished.
All I can say is this: decency and education matter. Anyone with even a small amount of either would understand that bringing a takeaway box to diners unprompted—in the middle of their meal—is rude, strange, and simply uncouth. It would be more appropriate if you need to rush them out to remind them that you are closing soon and can provide a takeaway box if needed. I think the owner needs some serious self-reflection on what normal customer service looks like, because this certainly isn’t it. Harsh but true reflection of...
Read moreWorst restaurant I've been to in Calgary. My friend wanted to try a different type of cuisine so we ended up going to this restaurant which serves Nigerian food. The restaurant is very small with only maybe 5 tables. Service was EXTREMELY slow. There was only one other guest in the restaurant with us but they took forever serving. It took a good 20 minute before they brought out water and another 30 min after that for the food to arrive. And things we tried to order were all out and their dinner time was just starting. I usually overlook the bad service if the food is remotely good; however this wasn't the case. We ordered 4 dishes: Jollof rice with chicken $13 Fried rice with beef $15 Pounded Yam with some melon soup $13 Suya $8
There was so little meat that it was unbelievable for its price. The rice was something you could make in your own kitchen in 5 minute or so. The meat was very plain and there was nothing special or Nigerian about it. Beef was very hard to chew with no taste. Pounded yam just tasted plain, which I suspect it is supposed to; however the melon soup was horrid and my friend ended up not finishing it.
Even when we were all done suya didnt come so we went up to the counter to cancel it. however, when we got up to leave, they said they are making it for some reason. I will definitely will NEVER return to this restaurant and I hope others don't make the same mistake I have of going in the...
