EDIT...............2 STARS CHANGED TO 5 STARS
It was OK but not very good. My daughter liked her chicken fingers meal. I ordered fajitas as that is what they are supposed to be famous for. I ordered the combo and got steak and chicken. When it came out to the table I was shocked. It looked like they only brought half of it. I was not impressed at all. The boat they bring you with toppings was very dismal. Such small portions of toppings, as well as the meat. Not even any normal salsa came with it. The cheese was hard, and working for a cheese company I know cheese. Not good at all. It was not very busy when we went and still I had to wait for over 10 minutes for someone to finally come back so I could get another wrap as I got 4 originally. Due to such small portions I was trying to spread it out as much as I could. Service was very slow, would hate to be there when it was busy. I will be in no rush to return to this place at all. There is nothing worse than leaving a restaurant after eating and still being hungry. Not impressed
NEW REVIEW
I got response to my review and emailed my phone number as requested. Wasn't really expecting response to review or a phone call as so many places just don't care, but this place does actually care. I received an email back saying Manager of this location would be contacting me. Magnum contacted me and we had a nice conversation on the phone. He was disappointed that my experience was so bad and that they had failed. He reassured me that this is not how things are and invited me back and would like to meet also. If he was not there then another manager Sunshine would be there and she was looped in to my first review and experience.
A lot of time had passed from when Magnum and I spoke on the phone (at least a month). My wife and I decided that we would take the kids and go back. We decide we would try to beat the dinner rush so we went around 5pm. We were greeted by the hostess and asked where we would like to sit. I asked if Magnum was in and if I could talk to him. The hostess took my name and asked if I would like him to come to our table, I said that would be great. Another lady came by to confirm that I had asked for Magnum to come to the table. Turns out it was Sunshine. Magnum came over and him and I had a little chat. He had recollection of our phone conversation and he was glad that I came back and that I asked to talk to him. He introduced me to Sunshine as well and then introduced us to our server Belle. Sunshine did check in a couple times while we were eating and Belle checked in frequently.
Once again my kids ordered chicken fingers meal and my wife and I decided on the steak and chicken fajitas for 2. I ordered the fried pickles as a starter, damn they were really good.
Belle was a great server. I will be requesting her for future visits. The food was great, and the service was even better. Boats with toppings were replaced when they were getting low. More fajitas were brought out when we were almost out. The attention to detail was wonderful. The kids loved their meal also and Belle was great with the kids.
The level of service that we received I would not typically expect on a normal visit as it was a little more then necessary. I do credit them for trying to make a very good impression on someone who was left with a very negative impression from a previous visit.
The most important part about it was that neither Magnum or Sunshine or Belle seemed to be faking it. They all seemed very sincere and were going the extra mile to prove that my first experience was a fluke and not the norm.
Magnum came back over to talk to us and check in to see how everything was when we were done. He was very happy that we returned to give them a chance to make it right. He gave me his business card and said anytime I come back to check in with him and say Hi. I told Magnum that if the service on our first visit was half as good as this visit then there would not have been an issue.
I will be returning for sure as they really do care about their...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend Lone Star to anyone. There are two glaring issues with this place. The first is the service and the second is the cost to food ratio. If you scroll through the reviews for this place, even some of the 5 stars will comment on the place seeming understaffed and many comment on the cost of food. The service is terrible and it has literally nothing to do with the staff themselves. On the contrary, everyone I spoke to was extremely nice and overall I had a great experience with them. The problem is that they appear to under staff like crazy. When there is an hour wait and many of the tables are free and you can see less than a handful of servers working the entire restaurant you have to wonder what is going on. I have been here twice and both times it has been the same story, and I don't say that lightly. It's frustrating because you never see the same person twice so most of the stuff you ask for never comes. They compensate the staffing issue by having other employees work the tables. One of the hostesses and the manager both came to our table with food or other accoutrements and I think at one point the bartender even came to our table (albeit I am basing this on their attire alone) and we were not seated at the bar. The food is expensive relative to the portion sizes. They tortillas they serve are easily the thickest I have ever seen, bordering on thin slices of bread, in what I can only assume is an attempt to distract you form the fact that you just paid 70$ for a combined 6oz of steak and chicken. If you don't have a good concept of how much meat this is, I would compare it to about 3 maybe 4 McDonald's patties. This is the "3 person" option I'm talking about too. Generally I don't complain about portion sizes in reviews but I would love to see what they bring for one person because I would be surprised if it was more than 1.5oz worth of meat, it certainly could not be more than 3oz. I'm not even trying to be a glutton here, it's actually crazy the cost to food ratio they are getting away with here. By the way, the steak is an additional 4$ up-charge per person. It's bordering on highway robbery when you are paying that much. That would be 24$ for a single person. I easily get double the food in an average 7$ burrito. The price alone would be enough to make me say "avoid" but combined with the poor staffing, I say give this Lone Star a miss and head...
Read moreWe came to celebrate our daughters 20th birthday as a family. This was our first sit-down, table service restaurant dinner as a family after the pandemic and maybe we had expected too much or forgotten how it used to be, but I thought the food was nicer before, and our previous visits a lot quieter. It was still a good meal! Don't get me wrong. But the experience was destroyed quite a bit by 2 things : First off was that there was at least 3 or 4 families eating together in a group with very small children, who were allowed to be as noisy as it's possible for children to be. We have brought our children with us to restaurants since they were babies, but they have never been allowed to disturb other guests! One of my daughters has autism and really, really struggle with being in a public place with lots of loud noise, especially the pitch of screaming and shouting, so she had to go get her headphones from the car but was still uncomfortable. That really made the first half hour almost unbearable!
Parents, if you want your children to run around and scream and shout while you eat, please go to McDonald's! Other customers will expect that there! Not at a nice sit down, food served at the table restaurant.
The second thing was that the servers kept coming by to ask if the food was OK. I remember that this is done once shortly after tasting the food. Perhaps a second time when we may want more drinks. But our server asked at least 6 or 7 times, and a different server came and asked too. It was redicules! When going out for dinner, I expect to enjoy a nice meal and the company and conversation of the people I'm with, but that is made rather difficult, when servers keep coming back to ask if the food is OK. Made me wonder if they were expecting the food to be awful? Or maybe they were bored? We were trying to ignore the servers completely in the end, so they would have no reason to come and ask again, but that didn't help. There's being attentive and there's being annoying! There is a clear difference there! All in all a very mixed experience, hence the 3 *. I do hope to be surprised in a good way if we dare go again. If there had not been half a kindergarten of screaming children and the servers had been slightly more discreet, I would probably have...
