A&W Canada — Restaurant in Campbell River

I noticed on our way home after leaving the drive thru at the A & W location in the Discovery Harbour Shopping Center/Campbell River this afternoon, that there were no fries in my young son's bag of food (I had ordered him a combo meal). I had to turn around and drive back to the drive thru to get my son his fries, only to be told by the clerk that he was charging me for the fries straight up/full price, no discount for the combo meal that I had asked for. I questioned him about it, as I was somewhat expecting to be offered the fries as a complimentary apology for the mistake, however instead he charged me full price for the fries, with not even a suggestion of refunding the original order and ringing it in properly so that I get my considerable discount for the combo with fries. I paid full price for the fries nonetheless, and requested some sort of recompense for the overcharge, and after speaking with the shift supervisor, all he could offer was a turnover. This is a massive customer service shout out to recognize Christine (store manager) and Kristen (area manager) of the A&W on Island Hwy in Campbell River who went above and beyond to help reunite me with my wallet. I accidentally left it in the women's washroom when passing through Campbell River yesterday on my way to catch the 10:45pm ferry from Nanaimo to get back home to the lower mainland. I only noticed it was missing as I pulled up to the ferry terminal. Not only did Christine and her team rescue my wallet from the ladies' room that evening, after some snafus with Purolator the following morning when I tried to arrange for it to be picked up and shipped back to me, Christine stepped in and, with a green light from Kristen, made all the arrangements and shipped it on the store account. This review is primarily for the A&W drive thru.

I always love A&W's flavors. I feel like they have the right amount of sweet, salt, and zest. A&W's website also provides great coupons. Today we ordered two mozza burgers, two fries, and two and A&W root beers for $11.99.

Drive-thru attendants are friendly and knowledgeable 5* Service speed 5* Food prep speed 4* There's a little bit of a wait for drive-thru to receive your food, but I really don't mind because of the quality of the food I receive. Food quality 5* Drive-thru Menu layout 3*. Stars lost because they don't update the drive-thru menu very promptly. Twice, now, at drive-thru, I tried to order something that was no longer available.
