Whistlin' Waffle — Restaurant in Campbell River

Wasn't expecting much to begin with, since using waffles as a gimmick for a restaurant already says a lot about their low effort, but I was still let down. The food was horrible and the service just wasn't comforting whatsoever. Both my partner and I had our waffles delivered cold. My dish came with hashbrowns on the side, and those were also cold. Not the kind of temperature where the food is waiting for a while, but it moreso felt like they had a bulk amount just sitting there, and then put it on my plate. We got our food quite fast after ordering, so it should've been hot, right? But both our waffles were that same temperature, as though they had been sitting there before we came into the restaurant. The waffle poutine we were served was hot, but that might've just been because they used recently made gravy. Although that item was hot, it was extremely low quality. Pre-shredded cheese you buy in bags at Walmart, as well as the "water and powder" gravy. All the food was extremely lazy and the whole "waffle house" gimmick doesn't excuse for poor food. Very friendly owner . She was helpful and answered my questions even though she looked and was busy. A baby and a business to juggle and still smiling . Bubble Tea was alright not the best I have had . First time I went they were out of Tapioca Pearls so I tried a non gluten choice that the flavor and texture was too much after more than one sip so I decided to try again I went back and had another with the Pearls which were a little mushy for my liking. I have only tried the MilkTea. Will try a Fruit Blend next time before I decide whether I will make it a regular stop. **Edit The whistling waffle is my go to for Bubble Tea. Wow! Absolutely amazing food! I live and brunch in Victoria so this was a great surprise in Campbell River. And unsweeted waffle fresh with bennies awesome idea! Dinner feel but food is comfy and modern twist. Took the Monty Monty, was starving but had a boxed left over.. .fruit sub for hash well priced. Soft bennies were perfectly soft handmade/ no molded rpubd weird shape. Waffle amazing 😍 Iced coffee reasonable price, was on the sweet side but they kindly added more coffee and it balanced it. Plus you can get bubble tea in the morning rather than night!! Got a peach-mojito black tea with pearls.
