We came to la Réserve for my birthday. So high expectations were in full effect. I had been told previously that la Réserve had a fantastic dish composed of homemade French fries with truffle oil and parmigiano reggiano, but couldn't find it on the menu. When I asked the waiter about the dish, he explained that they have not had that on the menu since January 2018, when they changed up the menu. (They regularly change their menu with the seasons if i correctly understood.) He did however ask the chef if it would be possible to make some for us, and we got the great news on his return that we could still order some! Great news l.
La réserve is a place you go to eat the meat. If you're a vegetarian, you won't have very many options outside of the seafood, granted you actually eat that. Speaking of the meat, you can find a fantastic assortment of carefully 30-day aged meats with the according price points affixed to them, with some particular cuts being their specialty. The Tomahawk is the most impressive of these, but they unfortunately did not have any cuts of that left over. But not to fear, we got the opportunity to try their delicious, soft, tasty, tender Rib Cut and the delicious New York Sirloin, as well as the risotto veal burger and the pan-seared scallops.
As Entrees go, the selection was excellent and we ordered multiple to share. The beef and salmon tartar were delicious, with the salmon tartar having a nice little kick to it, but our biggest favorites were by far their homemade porc and shrimp dumplings and their homemade lobster tortellini, which was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned for you to enjoy the flavour of the lobster.
The wine menu was extensive enough, with our favorite bottle of the night being the Mallorio Montepulciano, and our waiter was even kind enough to bring us 2 rounds of shots on the house between our courses, which took an understandably long time to prepare. The presentation was excellent, the food was fantastic, and for some odd reason, the people at our table were also obsessed with how nice the plates were.
If you can afford a nice night out and don't mind spending a good amount of money on some exceptional food, la Réserve is...
Read moreWe’ve always enjoyed dining here in the past, so we were excited to return with family for a Friday night out. The staff were warm and welcoming as always, which we truly appreciated.
That said, the food this time did not live up to the level we’ve come to expect. The appetizers, though flavorful, were all served together on one plate, which took away from the presentation, especially at this price point. The rib steak, recommended as the highlight, was unfortunately overcooked and not as well seasoned as we remembered. The cod dish and Brussels sprouts, which used to be a standout, also felt underwhelming this time.
For a dinner that came to nearly $400, we were hoping for the same consistency and attention to detail that made us love this place before. While we were disappointed with this particular visit, we truly value the kindness of the team and hope the restaurant can get back to the great quality we’ve experienced...
Read moreThe same way we give good feedback we shall give bad. I had a change to have q great time at la Reserva 2-3 times before. We even had a moment where one of the waiters remembered us. Which was epic.
Now today we had a friend birthday at the place. La Reserva was not even half capacity and one of the dishes for the people on the table was forgotten. As a excuse a second waiter said she could give an extra appetizer, when the table had already eaten appetizers and ha ordered main dish.
The worst is that you have to hear "the best I can do". I am very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I'm not to suggest anyone yo go to the place anymore.
Btw the risotto was terribly cooked as they did too fast. Not only salty but far...
