Gourmet Restaurant — Restaurant in Carleton Place

Typically I would go here with my dad over the years and I never had a problem, always had good friendly service until recently. I decided to go with a couple friend a few months back and had terrible service, an older blond lady was our server and she avoided our table for over half an hour coming towards us then turning away and going else where at least 5 times we eventually were served and went to the counter when we were ready to leave as we didn't want to wait around for the server once more. I assumed this to be a fluke experience so I returned yesterday with my boyfriend and we had the same older blond server after being at the table for a while she came with menus and asked what we would like to drink we order milk and juice and looked threw the menus after about 15 minutes we closed our menus and stacked them together to make it more obvious we were done with them. Another customer came and sat at the table next to us and immediately our server went to his table brought his drink and took his order it was at this point as she was passing us I asked if we could have our drinks and said we were ready to order her response "you will have to wait" after already being there for 20 minutes and watching her serve someone else within 5. So we waited and she finally came with our drinks and took our order. The food came out in a timely fashion and she brought it to our table but took half my meal and stated it was actually for someone else and walked away with it. I ate what I had my boyfriend finished his meal and we watched as two more people were seated and received their drinks and full meals it was at this point I asked a pleasant looking server who was actually paying attention if I could speak to a manager I was guided to him where I said I was still waiting on food and for the second time was receiving poor service. He immediately gave me the rest of my order and I went and sat down to Finnish eating. The blond women came back to our table rudely stating that she was talking to other customers and they couldn't believe she recieved a complaint begrudgingly telling us our meal would be free and finishing with a comment on how young people don't eat there and that we clearly just like to complain. never in my life have I recieved such rude and disrespectful service, I am polite and no I don't tend to complain but the situation warranted it. I attended this restaurant yesterday with a group of approximately 20 to 30 people. We had the area in the back reserved. There were a group of us that needed to sit in the front while we waited for patrons to complete their meals so we could join the family in the back. The service that we received at the front of the restaurant was deplorable! Our server was rude did not provide what was ordered and seemed really put off that we were sitting in her section. All we had ordered was drinks and we couldn’t wait to be moved due to her ignorance. Unfortunately we were there for a funeral service of someone very close to us. We didn’t require much from her but a little common courtesy would’ve went along way, especially yesterday. Once we were moved to the new section with the rest of our family we had received top-notch service! Our server was incredibly kind. She worked hard to keep this big section fed and happy on her own. And she did an amazing job at it! She was informative and helped with menu options. She was pleasant 100% of the time she was working very hard for our section and it did not show in her pleasant demeanour whatsoever that she may have been feeling overwhelmed. The food I ordered was good and I would order it again. ironically she was able to provide items that the previous waitress had said were unavailable. It was a miracle! It was such a difference, night and day , truly between our service that we were inclined to leave a generous tip.If it hadn’t had been for her, I would be here right now leaving a much lower star review I had never felt so poorly treated in a restaurant as I had in that first 30 minutes of...

If I'm rating this place for Pizza I'm a 4/5 all day but in 43 years I've never had anything from here that's anything but average or sub par. Queue this morning , my father and I dropped in hoping for a good breakfast. Like every other time I've been there (Town is limited on restaurants) the food was sub par and the service was mediocre.

It started off well, the waitress seemed nice and brought us our coffee. The coffee was terrible, definitely one of the worse restaurant ones I've ever had. Finally the breakfast came but, they messed up my father's eggs. He asked for sunny side up and got over medium. 5 minutes later the waitress came and asked if we'd like a refill while we wait on our toast... I commented doesn't that usually come with the rest of the food. She went on to make an excuse on being short staffed in the kitchen.

The food was sub par, a mound of bland tasteless home fries, cold bacon and satisfactory small eggs.

Finally the toast came, it was not really toasted. It was still soft as bread.

Worst breakfast I've had in years and imo if you can't cook a decent breakfast, the easiest thing to cook, then you should not be cooking professionally.

I'd suggest changing the name to something more truthful like "It's Edible" or "Not-Gourmet".

Waitress gave attitude and excuses. Go to Walmart spend 9 dollars and cook a better breakfast in 5 minutes before going here.
