Very disappointed with the response to a baby. I was visiting with my three month old baby and some friends. My daughter needed her diaper changed and I went to the washroom only to find no change table and no appropriate place to change the baby. I asked the waitress and was told she couldn"t let me change the baby at the table and the option she was giving me to change the baby was the staff room. The staff room was disgusting. With an old exposed and stained toilet, the mop bucket and cleaning supplies. The waitress set up two chairs side by side for me to lay the baby on. I was very upset. The waitress was rude and seemed put off that I did not find this an Appropriate place to change a infant. I'm sure it's a very inexpensive cost for a restaurant to install a change table in the washroom. I hope management sees this review and considers how this simple investment would make your smallest of guests feel safe...
Read moreI was exploring Carleton Place and asked the locals where to eat on a Sunday. Every one of them listed 'the pub' as the place to go. So, here I went! The front patio was open on an early spring day. The sun was super warm. They open their back patio (which was recommended to check out by the locals) on June 1st. Surprisingly, you can fit a lot of people in the pub! Nearly 40 on the back patio, 35ish inside and another 8 or 10 on the front patio.
Beers - smattering of local and domestic. Good choices.
I opted for the smokey crispy burger. It has smokey bbq sauce and some deep fried onions plus more fixings. It was good! Portions are healthy (or unhealthy ;). The nachos appeared to be popular. I might have to try them next time! Nice place, recommended.
Wheel chair access: front patio only. One small step into the restaurant. Access to rear patio is 4 steps unless you roll through...
Read moreI felt the need to give a review of this great little spot in Carleton Place. What makes it stand out are the amazing staff. Raquel and the tall dark haired girl that manages the place are both long time servers in the Carleton place restaurant scene.
We had the pleasure of first having been taken care of by Raquel at Freska. She remembered us whenever we arrived. To the extent that my granddaughter had left a little toy there months before and when arrived there she darted to the back and with a flourish presented the long lost toy. The lucky St James gate is the recipient of her talented work.
I'm sorry but I don't remember of the name of the tall dark haired lady but she is also a gem. She couldn't do enough for her guests and is wonderful. She also worked elsewhere for a time but she is back now.
How lucky we are to live in CP. A lovely little spot where you always...
