I have generally avoided the Castlegar DQ because I've never been able to get a quick meal there, but I hadn't been there in a long time so figured I'd suck it up and wait. This was a Saturday for dinner, and they were somewhat busy. Although, after finally getting my takeout meal I realized they only looked busy because of how slow the service was. I waited in line (only 3 people in front of me) for just under 15 minutes. After ordering I waited another 30 minutes for my order (2 hamburgers and fries). That is a 45 minute wait from entering to leaving... It's not an exaggeration when I say I could have gone to almost any sit-down restaurant in Castlegar, and ordered a burger and eaten it and been on my way in less time that this. Also, when a basic burger and fries now costs $16 minimum at DQ, it's nearly the same price to go to a real restaurant anyway.
The meal I left with was fine. I have no complaints there. But, this is the last time I will ever go to this DQ again in my life. As I stood waiting for my order, seeing at least half a dozen people say their ice cream orders were wrong, I couldn't help but think it was a joke. The girls at the front seemed to be moving quick, but kept getting the ice cream orders wrong. The guys in the kitchen were moving without any hurry. It was obvious they couldn't care less about getting on top of the orders. There was about 25 orders put in while I was there (this includes the orders already in when I arrived). About half of these were simply for ice cream, which means there were roughly a dozen orders for burgers in 45 minutes, and that was as fast as they could get them out. This is so far from fast food it's not even funny. If you absolutely must have a DQ burger, then prepare to wait, or maybe try Trail. The drive there...
Read moreDQ is awesome this location is clean and centrally located. What I like best about DQ is that it's not your run of the mill fast food while it is fast it's not fast food the burgers are head and shoulders above places like A&W McDonald's etc the flavor of being char broiled is something you do not find at the others. Their fries are amazing and it's one of the few places you can still get a orange Julius drink. This location has refills for your soda and ice tea etc as well.
It's location in a strip mall close to the highway crossroads means you can pop in and out without having to waste time driving all the way through town in one stop you can get your food pop into the hardware store, bank, dollaramma, chiropractor etc. Then back on the road.
You can also buy the ice cream treats DQ is famous for dilly bars cones even personalized ice cream cakes pre made and ready to go just tell them what you want it to read so it's ideal for birthday parties get your cake and party supplies in the same mall.
I'd reccomend this place to anyone who has an affinity for a great burger in a timely fashion. If your fond of a over seasoned sawdust burger and something that resembles fries stick with the...
Read moreCashier had poor attitude when I complained that my order had not been filled out correctly. Don't come here anymore it's garbage now, even more than before.
Edited to add: I'm never coming back; there will be no more chances for DQ in Castlegar. Service was much slower than it should have been, they didn't listen to our order properly, and gave a terrible attitude when I attempted to have my order fixed. I've heard numerous complaints, gave you the benefit of the doubt, and you delivered the poorest "DQ experience" I have ever had across all of Canada. Don't buy here, not even for something "cheap" or "greasy" or "easy". You'll still have the worst experience...
