Review: Peak Quay Restaurant, PEI
Nestled on the waterfront and perched above a flight of stairs, Peak Quay offers an open-air dining experience with a charming view of the harbor. The restaurant's setting is pretty straightforward, embodying a relaxed, party-style atmosphere that feels more like a university hangout than a fine dining establishment. The tables are packed closely together, catering to a typically louder crowd, which adds to the lively, casual vibe of the place. Live music plays in the background, contributing to the festive ambiance and making it a popular spot for those looking to unwind.
However, when it comes to service, Peak Quay leaves much to be desired. Service was notably slow, with long waits for everything from receiving menus to ordering and eventually getting the bill. If prompt and attentive service is what you’re after, this may not be the place for you.
As for the food, it’s best described as basic. While everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the offerings. The fish and chips, a staple for many seaside eateries, were disappointing—one order had to be sent back, and the other lacked flavor, likely due to old cooking oil. The fish cakes were just passable, again not standing out in any significant way.
In conclusion, there are certainly better dining options around, especially if you're looking for a more refined experience or quality food. However, if you're in the mood to relax with a few beers, enjoy some live music, and take in the waterfront view, Peak Quay could be worth a visit.

Read moreI came here for dinner with my family on our East coast tour. We got off to a good start with bacon wrapped scallops and drinks. For the mains we ordered the Herb Crusted Haddock with salad, Marry Me Chicken, Mussels, Seafood bake and PEI Lobster roll.
The reason for the two stars is the lobster roll, and seafood bake were a big disappointment. The sandwich was full of nothing but meat from the claw which my daughter described as chewy. I tried a piece to confirm it. In contrast, for the same price as what we paid in Halifax by Peggy's Cove for a lobster roll, we got a sandwich that was 100% lobster tail with no claw meat. The seafood bake was also disappointing, as the portion was quite small - definitely not filling.
As for the ambience, there was live music but we didn't care for it because the performer didn't have the best voice. They would would have been better with playing music over the speakers instead. A shout out to our sever, Rosy, who did her best to take care of everything despite a bad experience with two of the dishes. Kudos to the manager as well for coming out and listening to our feedback and kindly removing the lobster roll from our bill. He said he would look into what happened. Time will tell.
If you're reading this review and are planning to try the lobster roll, ask if it is made with actual lobster tail meat rather than chopped pieces of claw meat. If not, avoid ordering it or go...
Read moreWow! What an amazing Canada Day! 🇨🇦 We enjoyed an amazing dinner on the upper deck, watching the water, a litte music in the court yard, beautiful view of the large boats, yachts. The service was above and beyond, an amazing waiter named Noah, who by the way was 5 star. We order which all food came exactly how we ordered and perfect. The food was beyond good, amazing flavors great selections. We started with apps, which was the hot dip with Naan and corn chips, coconut shrimp and 4 oysters for us ladies. Then seafood bubbly, fish and chips, and the duo fish meal. Wow. This is definately one of my top 3 of all restaurants we have been to on the Island. I cannot wait to go back, enjoy some drinks, views and food. My favorite restaurant, great food, great service, amazing view, great ambiance.
