We were really looking forward to this after a long drive from Fredericton. Ordered 80$ of food for 5 people. No credit only debit or cash because apparently "small businesses prefer not to take credit". 1 lobster roll (19$) 1 lobster poutine (24$) 1 gluten free fish and chips (12$) and 3 hot dogs and fries (18$) and a beach chair lager (7$). The lobster roll and lobster poutine was all filler no lobster not sure what was in it but didn't taste like lobster (though there were some small pieces of lobster scattered through to legitimize that it was indeed a "lobster roll"). The lobster poutine was way too salty and cold to melt the cheese curds. The hot dogs were for the kids and were what you would expect from a boiled hot dog on a fresh bun. The fish in the glutten free fish and chips was the best thing we ordered. The French fries on their own were good but nothing to come back for. The owner, lady with black hair and large hoop earrings and tattoos (?) who was working there was in a really bad mood shouting at people to pick up their food. Overall sad to say a very disappointing experience.

Made a trip from Ontario, one stop was to see a place from “You Gotta Eat Here”. I never got to enjoy the food. I put in an order for a lobster roll and fries. I witnessed an employee taking lobster for the roll out of a container with their bare hands - no gloves. The employee had two bandaids on their finger and the bandaids were touching the lobster as they were stuffing the bun. I asked if that was my roll, I was told no. I mentioned about the bandaids contacting the food, the employee didn’t say much aside from, that they had washed their hands. I brought up the fact that it was not sanitary and that they should be wearing gloves. They didn’t seem to care. I had seen enough, canceled my order, and I went to Dave’s just a few steps away. The employee in the kitchen had put on fresh gloves, once I saw that I felt at ease. The lobster was delicious.

UNSANITARY - DON’T GO!!! The cashier at the Chip Shack prepared the lobster rolls without washing or sanitizing her hands after handling customers’ money!!! I also saw her picked up a fries that fell on the counter and she put it back on the plate for the customer. I was in shock!!! How can this business operate like this in COVID times!!! Even if we’re not in a pandemic, she would not have passed a food safety inspection! While deciding if we should cancel our order, our food was ready so we were stuck with the food. The lobster roll was ok, but fries were over fried and very dry, the fish batter were very greasy and no tartar sauce for the fish either. The apple fries were good though.

We were in Charlottetown on a rainy day in late September, a time of year when many stores start to close for the season and the Chip Shack's page said they would be open only when weather permits. We called the Chip Shack's phone number to see if they were open. The owner answered from home and we were not surprised to hear that they weren't planning to open that day due to weather. We were a little disappointed to miss their famous fries, and said we'd try to make it there on a future trip.

About 20 minutes later my phone rang. It was the Chip Shack! Letting us know they'd had a change of heart and decided to open up for the day as the weather had improved some. We we're stunned by the courtesy of the call-back, and wondered if they couldn't bear to let a customer leave town disappointed. We headed on down and were happy to find a short line of patrons who were also happy they had opened that day. While we waited for our food we chatted with the owner, Caron, who was a delight.

5 stars were earned before the food even came out, but the food was excellent too. We had fish and chips and the lobster roll. The fries really are something to...

I didn’t want to give the Chip Shack even one star, but you can’t post a review without at least one. I give the Chip Shack zero stars!!! The place was unsanitary, which should have been our first clue, not to eat there. The ordering service was disorganized; they almost seemed confused. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait, which turned in to a 45 minute wait. Other customers were lining up to complain about the wait. Those that were complaining ended up getting food before us, although we were ahead of several of them. The food was not that great either. My girlfriends lobster poutine had way too much gravy…which was not home made…I saw her opening the package. My pulled pork poutine didn’t even come with cheese curds. When I took it back, they put the curds on, then poured more gravy on to try to melt them. Then I saw her pop it in the microwave. I am the kind of person that hates to waste food, but that could not be called food. The table we sat at had a brochure about the owner and how she takes pride in growing up on a PEI farm. She needs to take pride in...
