The garden outside is a lovey space to sit and eat. I’ll definitely come back for a coffee. As I am not into white flour products the choices are limited and unclear. The chalk menu above the counter needs some interpreting, especially when busy as it had several chalk boards that need to be navigated from a long snaking queue.
We went on a busy sunny Saturday morning. This was my first time at this restaurant. As a first timer I had no idea what was on the menu. I couldn’t find a menu near the door when deciding whether we even wanted to eat there. We both avoid anything too bready and gluteny. Had I known it was mostly croissants, bagels and beautiful wood stove pizzas, we would have gone elsewhere. The menus can only be found at the counter where one orders and pays. The service was friendly and bilingual.
The food looked great and my now stone cold pizza still tasted good. The salad didn’t have enough dressing that came with the bagel Benedict and a cold runny egg. I don’t like cold eggs on anything , eggs are meant to be hot unless it’s an egg salad sandwich.
Our meal was sitting on the counter ready to be claimed, rapidly cooling off. Unfortunately, due to over reliance on technology and a lack of initiative, 50 minutes later my hand was forced to enquire with the pizza chefs to the whereabouts of our now cold meal, adorned by cold eggs.
Someone should have taken the initiative and gone to call us, as our buzzer didn’t work. When I explained this to the server, she couldn’t care less.
For those steep Chelsea prices I expect a little more. The restaurant felt like the team running it were “resting on their laurels”.
Apropos , tips need to be earned! Why tip a server when the servers never leave the counter and don’t really care two hoots about customer service? Maybe servers should be paid a better wage, thereby inspiring them to take care and attention and instilling in them better...
Read moreThe place looks great, as you can probably tell from the photos. It has a nice vibe, and I really liked the design and decor, everything felt clean and well thought out. I also appreciated the glass water containers with reusable cups at the entrance, a nice little touch. I hear this spot is known for their pizza, but I didn’t get to try it this time. I did notice the wood-fired oven, which looked legit definitely planning to come back for the pizza. When I visited, it wasn’t super busy, maybe 4-5 people in line. But ordering was a bit of a hassle. There were only a few grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, but the person taking orders didn’t seem to know what was in them and had to ask around a few times. Honestly, a simple label with the name and price would have made things much easier. Unfortunately, my order got mixed up too. I asked for a small decaf and a small regular, but ended up with a medium decaf and a double Americano. On top of that, one of the cup lids didn’t fit properly, and it spilled coffee in my car and burned my hand; not fun. The coffee was hard to drink because the lid kept popping off. I also grabbed a couple of pastries. They were okay, but would’ve been better warmed up. I noticed others were asking for theirs to be heated too. Overall, it felt a bit chaotic for a place that wasn’t even busy at the time. Not the best first experience, but I might give it another shot next time; hopefully...
Read moreWe are road cyclists. We live in Ottawa and ride 20kms to Biscotti in Chelsea frequently for coffee, lunch or dinner. Today was our first ride of the year and we were happy to be back at Biscotti and support them during COVID especially. However, I found it distasteful and inappropriate that management would expect the 20 year old Server to go outside and us to leave the cement patio while we were just sitting there just me and my partner, nobody else around, nobody else sitting near us whatsoever "because its a Red Zone and the Police might come". Firstly, we were not sitting at a table...there ARE no more tables, the cement we were sitting on was not even recognisable as a "patio". It was rude and guess what...a waitress doesn't have that kind of power AND it should not be HER job to ask patrons supporting a business to leave the premises. If Management REALLY feels its appropriate to ask people to leave who are resting eating their snack and drinking their beverage purchased at your establishment then they should do the dirty work themselves or leave it to the actual Police themsleves. Its not in a 20 year old Waitresses job description to act as the COVID police. Wont bother returning and spending money here until after this COVID BS is over....if it ever actually ends. Wake up People! Stop letting Government...
