Mamma Teresa used to be one of my favourite Italian restaurants, however I have not been there since covid, decided to head over to old Chelsea and revisit my favourite Italian spot… what a disappointment. Prices up food quality down like some restaurants since covid, but then we experienced the bad service , the host/owner brought us to the table, threw the menu on the table and walked away, lack of manners especially with the lady I was with, at least get her seat ready and introduce yourself/welcome us. Waiters are young and a little inexperienced. Food was below par, calamari remained the same in terms of texture, batter was good minus two little issues, lack of seasoning and the cooks did not let it rest or attempt to let the oil drip off, the plate it was served in was drenched in oil, my partners meal had whole peppercorns in the sauce as if the cook dropped the bottle and said meh good luck chewing through all this and served it anyways. My Alfredo was bland and I asked for a roasted chicken breast on top of my pasta, I got little cut up chunks mixed in my pasta. We’re not the type to complain but we had to tell the owner the peppercorn was too much, he removed the cost of that dish, but did not offer a replacement. So she ate what she could while removing the whole sized peppercorns. This is really too bad, seems like they gave up and stopped caring over there. The decor is becoming outdated and dusty. Very unfortunate for a restaurant...

My visit to Mamma Teresa Ristorante was nothing short of delightful. This charming restaurant truly captures the essence of authentic Italian dining. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a cozy, classic decor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a little piece of Italy.
The menu offers a fantastic selection of traditional Italian dishes, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. From the freshly made pasta to the rich and flavorful sauces, you can tell that the chefs here take great pride in their craft. The portions were generous, and each dish was beautifully presented.
The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. It's clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority here.
One standout dish was the veal parmigiana, which was tender and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of seasoning. The tiramisu we had for dessert was a perfect ending to the meal—light, creamy, and full of flavor.
Overall, Mamma Teresa Ristorante offers an authentic Italian dining experience that's hard to beat. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner spot or a place to enjoy a meal with family and friends, this restaurant is a fantastic choice. I can't...
Read moreAlways thought this place looked like a tourist trap but this time around my wife and I decided to give it a go. She ordered the carbonara ($26) and I the vongole ($28). It. Was. Pedestrian. The pasta appeared to be cheap grocery store noodles and the carbonara sauce tasted like it was made from powder. At that price you’d expect at least fresh clams in the vongole. Nope, chopped clams from à can. I make vongole at home and it’s a hundred times better. Kraft dinner with chopped wieners would have been better. Sorry for bad review, but we just spent $150 and feel like we’ve been ripped off. It was so bad we didn’t even eat half our plates and left. Glad to confirm this is indeed a tourist trap. Do not waste your money here.
p.s.: I’m a local, and I don’t especially take pleasure in denigrating local businesses. Go to Les Fougères and see what you can get for the same price. You’ll be eating in one of Canada’s best restaurants and it won’t cost you much more. Paying $150 for two for an absolutely pedestrian meal is insulting. The Italian restaurant chain Pacini is actually better than Mama Teresa. I’m really for this scathing review, but it’s not okay to charge that much for something that any home cook can surpass by following a Mario Batali...
