Vedder Sushi & Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Chilliwack

Very disappointing. We went to celebrate a couple of birthdays. 4 adults and 3 children. Our food came sporadically over a period of 30-45 minutes. My chicken teriyaki took 15 minutes longer than the 2 beef teriyaki's to arrive. Their dynamite roll came with a sweet mustard sauce all over it that was not described in the menu so we had to return it as the person ordering really dislikes mustard. The tempura that was supposed to accompany her order as well as mine never did arrive. When we were ready to leave, and the waitress came to ask how everything was, we advised her that our meal was extremely and unfortunately sporadic, and that we never even got the tempuras. She said that they were now ready downstairs and she would bring them up. We told her not to bother as everyone who actually got the food they ordered were finished and we were leaving as were disappointed with the service. We watched as several other tables of people who arrived after us, got plates of food and ate before we received some of our order. One couple ordered after we all did, received and ate their entire dinner and left before we even got all of the food we ended up receiving. This was the first and ONLY time we will ever go there. And worst of all ... when we commented on the dismal level of service, the only explanation we got was that they were busy. No apology, nothing. We will never return and be sure to tell everyone we know about this very disappointing...

Very beautiful restaurant and the food is great. Very large portions! The restaurant has two floors, tastefully decorated and has very nice ambiance. Like the most Japanese restaurants in Chilliwack its run by Koreans. Very clean, nice bathroom, and food presentation and taste is excellent. The service is the only part where I simply cannot give stars. Its inconsistent. Depending on who is working. Some servers there are efficient and quite good while some others act like they don't really appreciate you sitting there (while being nice to other clients behind you) and don't communicate at all.

Few times I had to chase the younger server to remind to get my miso soup or sushi. When I asked to make sure there is no sesami seeds on teriyaki plate I got teriyaki all covered in sesami seeds because the server lady did not pay attention to my request. She did replace the dish but took a while and no real apology followed. An older lady server does not talk or says thank you. Just brings your food. (u got ur food, what else do u want, lol) A younger male server was good but brought the bill too soon, while i was still eating, without asking me anything, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. That is not very professional, makes the customer feel like they just want you to pay and leave as quickly as possible.

We’ve been loyal vedder sushi fans since moving to chilliwack 4 years ago but I think we’re going to have to find somewhere new. The last few times we’ve noticed the rolls are substantially smaller, orders are consistently wrong (only doing takeout due to covid), and everything just seems to be lacking any care or love. We ordered enough for 4 people the other day, roughly 8 rolls and only got two little packs of soya sauce! There wasn’t even anywhere to put the soy sauce and it was barely enough for one roll. We tried to eat at the park but ended up taking it home because we needed more chopsticks and soy sauce. I’d like to think it was a one off but it’s been the last three times and other reviews seem to be stating the same thing. Maybe the sushi chef changed? Anyways, I think you’ll get better value for your money and better quality...
