Basha Donair & Shawarma — Restaurant in City of Leduc

Checked it out because reviews looked good. TL;DR: food was plain, they didnt ask me or give me time to add anything on to my platter, layout was not streamlined, and the tables were a little dirty.

Cleanliness: there was dirt on half of the tables. It seems no one was cleaning as people came and went.

Service: service was okay. They were quick and to the point. Did not ask if I wanted to try any other toppings than the ones they chose for my platter.

Layout: layout of the cash/food/drinks is not streamlined. You pay and move to the left, but drinks are to the right. A bunch of customers had to walk back and forth through the line trying to get it all together. It made it chaotic for people ordering and waiting for food.

Food: had the chicken platter. Chicken was not the best. It was all sort of plain. No big flavours.

Price: price felt average. My platter and bottle of drink came to about 20.

I’ve been eating here since 2011 and unfortunately it has taken an absolute nose dive over the past several months. Both the quality and size of the donairs drastically reduced. The meat tastes awful. There is little to no spice to it anymore. That coupled with the fact that it has the texture of uncooked hot dog meat makes for an inedible Donair. The portion sizes are almost scam worthy as well. Ordered two big bites to go this past Friday for my father and I and they were comparable in size to a small donair most other places. It must have something to do with that guy behind the counter that ONLY shaves meat and than stands around. When the owner of the franchise worked here it was always a great experience and he always made sure customers were satisfied. Unfortunately the growth of the franchise might be its undoing. Dec. 30 7:45pm. Portions were good but I don’t understand why the sauce is such an issue. I’ve been here several times in the afternoons and had amazing Donairs. This is the second time I’ve come in the evening and I get dry donairs. I don’t know if you guys ration out the sweet sauce in the evenings but come on! A dry Donair is not a great Donair. The lady barely put sauce on and when I asked for a bit more, which I’m used to getting here, she looks at the bill and says you order extra sauce? No I didn’t. I would like the regular amount. Not some food rationing amount. She also rushed making it. I was looking at the other veggies and she already had it rolled up and get out of here. I asked for seasoning and she made a face.
