Exceptional service, great prices, super staff, phenomenal chefs, best food in town! The Proper never disappoints. I have taken to going there weekly, even on my own. My wife and I, and another couple, went out for a meal yesterday. I recommended the barbecue bacon cheeseburger to my friend and he said it was legendary. It really is the best burger in Lloydminster. Totally fresh and cooked to perfection, and so deliciously flavourful and messy to eat. We shared some wings - best wings in town - big, meaty and crispy and lathered in sauce. I also had their soup of the day - tomato & gouda. It was INCREDIBLE. Their broccoli soup is incredible too. I ordered the soup with cheese toast which was out of this world. I could've downed four more servings of the entire ensemble! But had to save room for my fish 'n' chips. Their "new" fish 'n' chips is an 8oz fillet of fish in a crispy, flavourful batter. I had mine with sweet potato fries for a change. It was all so delicious. The fish was hot and flaked apart perfectly. My wife and my other friend had steak, and both said it was cooked to perfection (my wife's to rare and my friend's to medium) and cut like butter. My friend said it was the best steak she'd ever had (and she orders it at most places we eat at). I had room for dessert (their chocolate cake is my fave - a giant slab of frosted cake with whipped cream!) but the other three in my party didn't, so I unfortunately had to decline a dessert. Next time!
The service was phenomenal, as always. Dani was our server and she was so friendly and funny and personable, and so on the ball. Our food came out quickly, with perfect timing between the delivery of starters and mains, and our drinks were always full and topped up. We were never left wanting for anything.
For all that food, the bill was perfectly acceptable. I never feel short-changed, portion-wise or quality-wise, at The Proper.
The chef(s) really deserves compliments, if you're reading this (management/owner/or even the chef(s) themselves) - your food is literally the best in town (I eat out a lot, and have tried most places). Where did you go to culinary school?! I want to learn to cook like you!! If you are self-taught, that is incredible. I eat a LOT of burgers (that's basically my diet, burgers and pizzas, lol) and know a good burger when I see one. The Proper's burger is the best I've ever tasted, anywhere (I've travelled a lot), by a good mile. Definitely the best in Lloydminster. I am still yet to try the pizza - I consider myself a pizza connoisseur having literally eaten pizza every day for seven years as an adolescent, and still I eat it frequently - I'm scared it will be the first dish at The Proper that I don't like! Surely a restaurant can't be THIS perfect?! I am just going to have to bite the bullet one of these days and order it.
Serving staff and management also deserve compliments and high praise. The service is ALWAYS friendly, prompt and excellent in all areas. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant side (bar scenes aren't really my scene); it is always clean and I love the decor.
I just can't praise you all enough. Seriously, you run an excellent establishment and I really hope and pray you are around for many more years to come (and that you keep up the standard of excellence!). You deserve to be ranked so much higher on Trip Advisor - you have a good rating but just not many reviews. I so hope more of your customers start taking the time to write reviews, as you deserve to rank far higher! I so look forward to leaving the house each week for my weekly visit to you guys, through this pandemic. Thanks...
Read moreWe recently visited The Proper, and I must say, it was an extraordinary dining experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.
To begin, we ordered the calamari, and it was absolutely excellent. The calamari was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside, and it was seasoned to perfection. It was accompanied by a delightful dipping sauce that complemented the dish wonderfully.
For our main courses, I opted for the BBQ burger, and my partner chose the Philly cheesesteak. The BBQ burger was a true delight â the patty was juicy and flavorful, topped with just the right amount of BBQ sauce, crispy onions, and fresh vegetables. The bun was soft yet held everything together perfectly. My partner's Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive. The steak was tender and well-seasoned, paired with melted cheese and sautĂ©ed onions and peppers. Every bite was a burst of delicious flavors, and the portion sizes were generous.
We couldn't leave without trying one of their desserts, so we decided to share the tiramisu. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of our meal. The tiramisu was light, creamy, and had just the right balance of coffee and cocoa flavors. It was the perfect sweet ending to our evening.
In addition to the fantastic food, the service at The Proper was top-notch. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. The staff genuinely cared about our dining experience, and it showed in their attention to detail.
The ambiance of the restaurant is also worth mentioning. The Proper has a cozy yet modern vibe, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. Itâs an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions.
Overall, I highly recommend The Proper to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The combination of delicious food, outstanding service, and inviting atmosphere makes it a standout restaurant. We will definitely...
Read moreI ordered take out for the first time from here and it was not a great experience. Iâve never had a problem dining in; great food and service! But today when I brought my meal home it was not made how I ask for it. I called and they said âoh shoot, want another one?â I said yes. So I drove round trip across town twice to get this sandwich. It was a $22 meal + tip and I didnât get anything extra in return, not even a proper (genuine) apology; which would have sufficed. Even when I picked up my replacement they just handed it to me and I went on my way. I work in a restaurant that really knows how to take care of people in these exact situations, and this just wasnât it. Didnât feel taken care of at all. I even then only ate half my meal as it was soggy and lettuce was a bit wilted. I know take out is tricky with these sorts of things, but it just added to the problem. Waste of time and money...
