What a disappointment! We've had some nice lunches there so we went for dinner. He ordered the jumbo wings on special and a side of fries. I ordered the veal parmesan with marinara sauce and a side garden salad. The best part of the meal was the salad. The dry rub wings looked dry alright, but more like deep fried in too-cool oil then allowed to dry in their fat. Of 6 wings only 2 were drums. The fries were the usual imitation potato product that every place seems to be serving these days. The linguine that came with the veal was almost adequately sauced but not quite. The 2 breaded "meat" patties seemed to have suffered the same fate as the wings, overcooked in too much cool oil which was allowed to soak in before they were somehow reheated. Each of 2 had maybe a teaspoon of sauce underneath a dollop of melted mozzarella. No parmesan in sight. Inside the meat patty was some kind of minced mush apparently mixed with breading. Virtually no meat flavour there and totally the wrong texture for a veal cutlet. I asked for extra sauce to make them palatable which arrived after a couple of reminders - and we were charged extra for it. When he mentioned to the server that the dishes seemed precooked she said some advance prep is done but implied that it was all cooked fresh. Not believable. The ordered dessert proved to be non-existent so we gave up at that point. It'll be awhile before we go for dinner again. Oh and it was overpriced for...
Read moreUnfortunately, I’ve had to change my 5 star review to a 1 star review, and I will not be returning. This is the third issue I’ve had with this pub. We walked in, had to seat ourselves (which is fine). A man and his child walk in a few minutes after us, and get served immediately. The waitresses catered to this man and his child for the entirety of the time we were there, while forgetting or ignoring us. We waited over 10 minutes just to get drinks. We ordered our food, and we were not told that only 1 pound of wings falls under the special, we didn’t find out until the bill came. Ordered a poutine and it didn’t come out, and had to re ask, only for the poutine to taste disgusting and not get eaten. The servers never mentioned the untouched poutine, didn’t ask how the food was. We waited awhile for our food, food was brought out separately so we all had to wait, had to ask 3+ times for ranch and ketchup, as well as refills. All the pops were flat. My wings were dry and bland, practically no seasoning on them. $80 for a meal that was less than sub par. Will not be back. Extremely disappointing, as I have had good service there before. Also, they upped all prices, only to have...
Read moreI have been in here a number of times before and after new ownership. I have been very impressed with it since ownership change. Today however I was appalled at the lack of attention and welcome from a bartender. She walked past me and my company twice. I had to go to her at the bar to ask for menus. She came to clean the table and did not once converse or make eye contact then dropped the menu down in front of me and went to walk away without asking for our drink orders. When I stopped her as she was walking away to ask if we could order drinks I felt as though I was inconveniencing her. I asked her if there was a problem since she had not been attentive and didn't communicate with us as one would expect, and she responded "oh you are too cute" . Seriously? I quickly cancelled the drink orders and left. She did not appear phased. I manage a team in the customer service industry and if I thought my front line treated our customers this way they wouldn't last. Frosty Johns in Bowmanville got our late lunch biz today and the wait staff there got a very generous tip because they provided the experience that we expected and the food was great. ...
