First let me say we've been going to the Courtyard for years and always enjoyed the food and service there. Last night was the polar opposite. Our Granddaughter reserved a table for 13 a week ago for her Grandpa's 70th birthday party. When we arrived, there was no area reserved for us and our reservation in the book had been crossed out by someone. The hostess noticed the problem (As did I) and immediately without saying anything to us, went and got the manager. He said they didn't have any tables for us in the areas where larger reserved parties are normally seated and our only option was to put several tables together right inside the front door. There was no apology from the "manager. Needless to say we were not impressed. The next issue was the arrival of our food. Half of our party received our apps, salad and entrées all at the same time. There was litteraly no room at our end of the table for it all. The other half of our party received their apps and entrées when we were almost finished our dinner. Totally unacceptable. Again, no apology. We chose the Courtyard to celebrate a milestone birthday because it's always been our go to restaurant of choice. It's such a shame that this experience was so disappointing. Doubly so because it was a 70th birthday party and we had relatives in from Australia to celebrate. I was embarrassed that we had chosen this restaurant to entertain our out of country relatives and celebrate a 70th birthday. The only reason I'm being generous with a 2 star is because our server was very hardworking and did her best in a bad situation. Still debating if we'll ever...
Read moreDisappointed. Not a great way to start a review and I’m sure not the first thing the restaurant owner will want customers to see when they are browsing reviews. However, I am to put it simply, disappointed. The Courtyard, which is generally a fun, energetic atmosphere with good food and drink is now unfortunately somewhere I will remember getting food poisoning from. My boyfriend and I unfortunately woke up this morning with bloated stomachs and sharp pains as a result of food poisoning after consuming the Spinach and Artichoke dip last night. Everything about it looked fine and smelled appetizing….however it seems that apparently something was not prepared or stored properly. I just want to say as a disclaimer, neither my boyfriend or I have any intolerances or allergies to dairy or any other foods. As an upset customer, I called the restaurant to spoke with the manager, hoping to get some sort of credit or something for this inconvenience….I got no such thing. When speaking with Logan, the manager, all he was able to tell me was that “everything was prepared fresh” and that “lots was sold last night”…no offer to credit anything back or for us to come in to receive a coupon or anything. It almost felt as if he didn’t actually believe we were sick and was not willing to offer us anything. So, disappointed in the end is somewhat of an understatement. Please, when ordering be wary of what you’re ordering, how it smells, looks and tastes. I wouldn’t wish this bout of food poisoning on anyone else. I do not see myself returning to the courtyard in the...
Read moreWe had never been to the Court Yard in Courtice and I decided to make reservations for my daughter's birthday and invited my daughters boyfriends family. Called up a few days before April 7th, 2024 to book a table out of the way for 9 adults and two kids. Person who took our reservation was not friendly nor grumpy but just took my name, phone number, and how many people. I told them it was for my daughtera birthday but she didn't seem to care or even acknowledged at what I said. When we arrived, the parking lot was packed. Walked into the pub and low and behold the place was full of soccer fans, the TV were on high volume. Manager said we would have to wait 10 to 15 minutes since the people at the table they were putting us at had not left yet. I asked if there was another table available and he said no because of this game. We would have to wait until the game was over to get a table. I told him again that we have reservations for 12pm. He said that the people at our table were there from 9:30 that morning. Ok so get us another table. He said nothing is available and we had to wait. I told him that was unacceptable. We finally said we will go elsewhere and walked out. If the person who took my reservation had only communicated that there was a big soccer game on that day and that the place would be pack with no guarantee that we would be seated at 12 pm then I would not have made a reservation. Its their loss as I won't go back there. If this is how this manager and staff handles the way the place is run than I am sure the food would be...
