I went to this restaurant today after my first two choices were closed. I ordered bocaditas. Three choices, guacamole, Pico de gallo, and mango salsa. The guac and Pico needed salt. The mango salsa was fermented. When the server came by to ask how everything was, I told her that the mango salsa was bad. She apologized and said she'd tell the kitchen. My main course was the carne asada. The menu description said flank steak sous vide to medium rare, then seared in a cast iron pan with butter, served with chili potatoes and green onions. The potatoes like the mango salsa were disgusting, the steak never saw the inside of any pan. It was completely unseared but unfortunately covered in sauce which did lend a brown color. The green onions were best left for the garbage. The server who was very professional, attentive, and helpful, didn't charge for the steak but did charge for the three salsas. I went to this restaurant because it appeared to have good reviews. Maybe there was a new chef or some problems in the kitchen. These things happen. I would not recommend eating here. The potatoes and the salsa were both spoiled and in any restaurant that should never happen. As a former chef, you always check to make sure your food, which many times is made the day before or 2 days before is still...
Read moreWe really hoped to love this place and thought maybe we just chose an off day to try it out. However based on some of the other reviews with similar complaints, it seems we weren’t the only ones who experienced the same service and left disappointed.
Pros: The pineapple paloma drink was decent as was the poached shrimp taco. The taco shells were nice and light.
Cons: We arrived at noon and waited an hour for our food to arrive. There was only one other table of two seated who also had waited a solid 45 mins for their meals. We weren’t checked on once during that time and there was zero acknowledgment or communication from the waitress about the lengthy wait. I could understand if it were busy but this was not the case. We only ordered two tacos and a chicken burrito. The portions are surprisingly small for the price and the burrito was lacking chicken and flavour.
For all the meals we’ve tried at the downtown Cobourg establishments, this restaurant has been the biggest let down so far and the only one to actually make me want to take the time to leave a review.
We wanted to love it, but unfortunately...

A few years ago, this restaurant refused to serve us because the owner or manager instructed the staff to tell us all seats were reserved when we spoke to waitress and was wait for a table to be clean up, simply because we had three kids with us. Hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt, we tried dining there again. Unfortunately, the owner or manager gave us the same dirty look as before, clearly uncomfortable with us bringing kids. We didn’t even bother waiting and left to eat elsewhere.
For comparison, we went to The Buttermilk cafe, where the service was friendly and welcoming. It’s disappointing to see such poor treatment of families at this restaurant If your a family with kids don't even bother including this restaurant...
