For those looking to escape downtown and explore other cities near Toronto and beyond, Cobourg Beach is a great option. The city is about an hour and 20 minutes from Toronto, and has a good road network. There are many paid parking options, but they're all very busy. There are also paid street parking spaces, which are also very busy, so you might have to drive around for a few minutes to find a spot if you're looking for something closer to the beach. Parking usually costs $40 Canadian dollars for 8 hours. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and there are signs warning you of this, so be aware. Barbecuing is not allowed on the beach; there are camping and parking areas for that; read the instructions on the city website. There are some public restrooms scattered throughout the city, but depending on the time of day, they can unfortunately get quite dirty. The beach restroom has changing tables. The city has many restaurants and tourist attractions, such as the city hall. For those who prefer to stay farther from the main beach entrance, pay attention to the signs indicating a reserved beach or residential area, as homeowners are always there to point this out (I don't know how the law works, but it's good to know). For visitors with disabilities, the parking lots near the beach have designated spaces for those with disabilities. The beach path has a rubberized surface for wheelchairs, canes, and walkers. It's worth a visit, as well as the small waves and crystal-clear water.

Cobourg Beach is widely regarded as a gem on the shores of Lake Ontario, offering a delightful escape for families, couples, and solo visitors alike. Located in the charming town of Cobourg, Ontario, this beach—specifically Victoria Park Beach—is known for its soft, white sand and clean, shallow waters that make it ideal for swimming, especially for kids. Visitors often praise the well-maintained facilities, including clean washrooms, a splash pad, and playgrounds, which add to the family-friendly atmosphere. The beach is also universally accessible, with a mat extending from the boardwalk to the water’s edge, ensuring everyone can enjoy the shoreline. The vibe here is vibrant yet relaxed, with activities like beach volleyball, picnicking, and strolling along the scenic boardwalk keeping things lively. Many reviewers highlight the clear, refreshing water—some even call it the clearest they’ve experienced in Ontario—though opinions vary on temperature, with some noting it can feel chilly even in summer. The beach’s proximity to Cobourg’s quaint downtown, just a short walk away, is a bonus, offering easy access to shops, cafés, and ice cream spots. Parking is available but comes with a fee, and it can fill up quickly on hot weekends when the beach draws a crowd. Overall, Cobourg Beach earns high marks for its beauty, cleanliness, and small-town charm, making it a standout spot for a day trip or a longer stay. It’s no surprise that it’s often recommended as a must-visit destination along...

this is a great beach. the sand is lovely and soft, it’s large, there are plenty of amenities in the area such as a small food place, a splash pad and park for kids, a pavilion, a beautiful path and garden area, an area for bbqs, picnics, parties, public washrooms, and more. there’s a public pool nearby as well. they have very cool events in the summer such as beach volleyball, movies on the beach, huge sandcastle contests, and more.

this would likely be a 5 star review if it weren’t for the parking situation. it is absurd and outrageous how expensive parking here has become. it used to be free, especially on king street. what do you mean $5 for ONE hour???? that’s nearly a third of minimum wage???? $40 parking for all day??? FORTY DOLLARS?!!!!! canadas wonderland doesn’t even charge that much for parking. it’s ridiculous. let people park at the beach for free. it’s disgusting how money hungry the city is. $40 day pass is INSANITY. i seriously can’t fathom having to pay nearly half of $100 to park at a public beach.

p.s. the seagulls here need to be ERADICATED. they have stolen food out of our hands and dug into our bags countless times and it makes me so angry every time. there’s gotta be something the city can do!!! no one wants them...
