Take-out order: Meatballs and house salad. The meatball sauce was very good, the meatballs were large (3) and ok. Enough salad for two, nicely prepared and very fresh. The dressing was bitter, generally due to the fact that a lower quality balsamic vinegar is used. Day 2. I ordered the pepperoni pizza with added hot peppers, that pushed up the price, along with added sauce. I also ordered the Tiramisu. The pizza was a good size, plenty of pepperoni, and a nice thin crust. Is it an almost $30 pizza without the added cost of sauce and peppers. NO! It's a $22.00 pizza at most. The Tiramisu was mostly cream, and didn't taste much like tiramisu. It was a cheap crushed biscuit, smothered in cream with the same cheap biscuits stuck on top for ??? decor. The staff however, are all very lovely, and given that despite there being plenty of restaurants in Collingwood and Blue, there's only about three I would rate real worthy of dining at. I would imagine Bello will do very well, as there's no pizza places in Collingwood to compare it with, and residents settle for sub par food because that's all that is available in the area. I'd definitely rate it one step up from Pizza Pizza tho. The Bruce Wine Bar in Thornbury serves a much better pizza and a...
Read moreBello was highly recommended by a friend and was also my first experience dining outside of the Blue Mountain Village area. We sat down for a late lunch and ordered the Kale Cesar, Brussel Sprouts, Mozzarella Sticks, Spicy Goat Pizza, the feature Pizza, all pizza dips, Apple Crumble, Tiramisu and Affogato. Bello is definitely a 5 star dining experience for the Collingwood/Blue Mountain area. While my experience with the service and food was great I did have a few suggestions. The pizza dips were fine, I mean it’s pizza dip, but the bello dip was your typical creamy garlic nothing special for your signature dip. The truffle dip was basic and the chilli oil not spicy enough. The pizza was great, and they came out larger than I expected. The kale caesar and the brussel sprouts were both over dressed for me. Some people like the taste of these two green veggies to be masked by flavour/sauce but I felt it was too much and you completely loose the flavour of kale and the sprouts. The desserts were all great, small, which is how I like it, and shareable. The soft serve machine is a nice touch for those wanting soft serve. Great job Bello, see...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a 5* The food is a 5* for sure The service was a 5* Drinks were a 5* But the experience was not enjoyable at all! It is so incredibly small and uncomfortable to dine in. We were literally seated in the entrance, so every time the door opened we were blasted by cold air. We were surrounded by people waiting for takeout. My spouse was bumped into 14 times- we counted- with staff trying to get around him to greet people at the door. I ate at the Italian restaurant this location was before and we never felt like this. I don't mind paying for an expensive dinner/date night out but this was not worth it. Our reservation was at 6pm and we were out by 647pm because we couldn't stand the chaos. It didn't help there was a table full of young children being disruptive. I understand that is not management's fault but a restaurant that small should consider a policy of children over 10. If I am paying almost $20 for a drink and almost $30 for a pizza, I am looking for an atmosphere that matches. We will go back for takeout because the food was amazing but eating in was not the date night...
